The Future Past Tour 2024

First comment was idiotic. Rob Halford pushing 80? Lmao. I love Priest but they try to keep every set classic heavy to appease the old fans stuck in the 80s. Some here want to call Maiden a cabaret act but that really is a disservice. Are there that many fans that can't be bothered to go check setlists and whatnot?

Priest brought out many rarities in the past 6 years.

The cabaret thing is so annoying. Their current tour has 5 brand new songs and a couple they haven't played in decades.

"The set list was appalling to be honest with you. Although a lot of their music is fantastic to pick mostly besides off of the unknown albums I felt shorted the fans on a concert that we all waited a long time to see. Most fans of the audience had never heard any of those songs other than the trooper which was one of their encore songs. "

Explain how an album made in 1986 is unknown in 2024. People like this get right up my ass. Another fucking clown who wants to hear The Trooper for the umpteenth time. I'll be honest, it's shit like this that actually makes me hate The Trooper. It's Maiden's Stairway To Heaven. I'm bouncing after Hell On Earth as a protest. Fuck that song.

Yes that's true, I didn't say they always had the same setlists just that they always do the few classics that everyone wants/expects to hear like Living After Midnight, Hell Bent, Metal Gods/Another Thing Comin'.

For Powertrip they realized the makeup of the audience for this event and went very heavy on Classics. They understood the assignment. Maiden didn't care and did the FPT setlist.

I've seen Priest 15 times on 14 different tours and they always played LAM, arguably their most well known song in the U.S. Can't say the same for RTTH, Maiden's most well known song in the U.S.

I just don’t get going to see a band and having a look at what songs they have been playing in the tour. Even if they rotate the set list, it’s a good chance to listen to some of the back catalogue before the gig. I did it for Nightwish and I’m glad I did.

Janick's rhythm melody under the Stranger In A Strange Land solo apparently featured in the studio version (synth?). Such a cool melody. SIT layers are just awesome. I wish Maiden would go back to these details. Adrian and Janick.

this is one of the best maiden related channels I know, very informative.

An observation:

Adrian played the LA show on backup guitars. The #1 prototype maple/white Jackson was used for drop-D songs instead of #2 prototype (chipped pickguard) and the old Custom Shop Green Jackson returned as the main standard tuned guitar (the one with worn neck). The first green CS Jackson can be distingushed from the current main one from the shade of green. The green is noticeably brighter.

I thought it would be nice to share the band members comments from the tour book:

Steve: I just want to say a massive thank you to the fans - it's just great to be able to feed off that energy.

Bruce: We've been doing this for nearly 50 years. Every day we do this is the best day of our lives.

Adrian: A lot of people have seen us multiple times and it's really great to see familiar faces in the audience.

Dave: I have a lot of fond memories of the SIT era. When I first got the setlist it was like 'woah!'.

Janick: I really love touring. The camaraderie. The travel, the crew - I just love seeing the world.

Nicko: The Future Past tour has just been fantastic. There's a beauty in playing live, and the response has been stunning.

Even based on these comments alone, they will try to play live as long as possible.
