The Future Past Tour 2024

But the problem with these comments is that many pleased fans don't comment. You don't get a representative impression.
If just a few people from this forum left comments, the whole thing would suddenly look completely different.

You will propably se some complaints about the setlist next year as well. The thing is, many people going to the shows can't name more than 5 - 10 Maiden songs, and which particular songs they are into, can vary between different parts of the world. There will always be some songs in the set that people haven't heard before.

As an example in 2008, at Ullevi, Sweden, most people were not familiar with Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Powerslave, and they didn't get a good reception. But the Powerslave and Live After Death albums sold lots of copies in the U.S back in the day, so I think the american audiences were much more into those songs. It's generally difficult to pick a set that suits all audiences.

I saw Maiden on the 2017 tour, and there was a guy next to me who was at his first show. At the end he expressed his disappointment that they didn’t play Run To the Hills, which he really wanted to hear. I felt kind of bad for him. Such a variety of fans come to Maiden shows, many for the first time. Maiden can never fully please them all.
Yeah In Charlotte for the TBOS tour we saw a fan losing his mind after the show because he wanted to hear RTTH and Hallowed. He was really pissed off.

One of my favorite Maiden memories was hearing Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son during Maiden England 2013. I adore that songs and it was magical hearing it live. Despite that, a large chunk of the audience was dead silent and bored out of their minds during the middle section of that song.

With the exceptions of Hallowed and Fear Of The Dark, most of the best-known Maiden songs (in the mainstream) are the short rockers from the 80s, mostly the singles.

Is it me or Adrian played the middle riff of Wasted Years faster again? It sounds a lot better, as it should be, and he should also play the intro faster. He is not usually a fast player, but why he plays it slower anyway?
That's not Adrian's doing. It completely depends on Nicko as he is the one who slows the song down. Once the drums kick in, it's Nicko behind the wheel. I guess it depends on his daily form and how he feels with his right hand.

Jan and H almost trainwrecked it at the end of the song.

EDIT: The biggest bonus for me from that video is that Bruce finally stopped talking nonsense during H's SIASL solo.

And H felt very sweep-picking-y during that show. Added them in multiple solos (TWOTW and Prisoner in particular).

The studio version is not that faster, TBOS tour version was faster. I don't deny it, it's tricky, but I find it odd because Nicko can play fast even now. And he plays the ''same-y'' middle part of Alexander faster in the video. I remember him saying that Bruce and Adrian like to play some songs slower. Hallowed, for example. Plus Adrian complained about the fast tempos back in '88.

I think his overall playing now is his best since 2022, the fills and tempo-wise (groove aside). I even like Writing On The Wall faster (an anthem live for sure), Celts is more lively too.

I love his improvisations live. I want to hear sweep-picking from him in the next album.

The thing is that during the riff Nicko plays the two handed hi-hat pattern that has caused him most issues since the stroke (along with the more complicated cross-stick patterns on hi-hat). That's also the reason why tempo fluctuates so much every time he does a fill during it and also the reason why Adrian is standing next to him: to get back in sync if Nicko doesn't do a fill or a crash in tempo.
