The Future Past tour 2023

I just thought filming and recording the current tour would be a great occasion to go on with their "History of Iron Maiden" series. If I'm not mistaken, after the LAD release some ten years ago this thing stopped. Maybe due to lacking of material. They might have some 1986/87 stuff, but it might have been not enough for a proper release continuing the series. They could fill it up with stuff from the current tour.

They have already covered that era on the Maiden England ‘88 DVD.

You’re right. It is a shame that they have not released any more History of Iron Maiden DVDs since.
Do you think they'll go on with that in the future? In chronological terms next would have to be the 1990 No Prayer-era, which I personally would love since NPFTD is my favourite Maiden album, but I doubt that's going to happen, left alone many people would mark it the turning point when the Maiden star began to sink.

I doubt it. Steve does not think there’s any money in releasing DVDs. A shame. :(

If this is a marketing problem for them, I wonder why they just don't go with a different digital format. Download purchase or whatever. Minimal effort at a maximum gain for them.
Would still just be pirated and youtubed, even more so than a DVD.

But to refuse any releases just because there's illegal ways existing to get a hold of a release seems odd to me.
I think it's the scope of it. 15 years ago, you still bought discs, and those who pirated, pirated. Nowadays, you just stream (or buy vinyl). Regarding video, you don't buy DVDs/blue-rays anywhere near that extent, nor do you buy digital files (and digital purchases of music, like through iTunes is hitting the floor too), so leaves very few ways to get paid for it. Now, if Netflix (wishful, magical thinking) would do a fuckin Iron Maiden documentary series though, that would be cool as hell.

For anyone wanting useless but otherwise interesting data, here are the number of likes received for each song post from opening night on their Instagram as of 8am EST this morning in USA on June 10th.

Listed in order by popularity

Alexander the Great - 110,421
Caught Somewhere in Time - 59,431
Can I Play With Madness - 55,918
Hell on Earth - 51,475
The Prisoner - 47,340
Wasted Years - 46,011
The Trooper - 42,821
Stranger in a Strange Land - 41,401
Fear of the Dark - 39,576
Death of the Celts - 39,552
Heaven Can Wait - 33,939
Iron Maiden - 33,907
The Writing on the Wall - 31,546
Days of Future Past - 31,425
The Time Machine - 28,630

I can't say I am surprised by the fact that Can I Play with Madness was so well liked on social media. It's a commercial hit for them even though I think it's almost the weakest song on SSOASS.

Clearly everyone was onboard to finally hear Alexander and loads were happy they opened with CSIT like myself. Not much love for their new material though except Hell on Earth! It outliked Prisoner, Stranger, Trooper and Wasted...
Surprised about Celts being so high. Not surprised about Time Machine being the least popular.

Probably you're right, but it's weird and sad anyway it has come that far.

I prefer The Parchment to DOTC but I absolutely guarantee that it would've had an even worse reception by more casual fans. It's longer and much more monotonous. Yes, there are a ton of solos, but there's also a lot of lyrics (Bruce would have to memorize everything and they aren't really suited to sing-along passages), as well as a lack of moments suitable for audience participation. As much as it pains me, but DOTC is simply the safer choice and arguably the correct one, considering how deep cut heavy the setlist is. Can't challenge the audience too much.

I like the parchment but I have no idea what people on here are smoking thinking it'll go down any better than dotc live

A shame that my Krakow ticket really goes to waste now since nobody needed it. It's strange. :nuts2: An entirely sold out show, first night of them both, and I really offered the ticket quite early. :nuts2: Not even overpriced, but just the regular price. So, one crowd space empty on Tuesday then.

I think it will due to the fact it's by far the more popular song of the 2, both will lose the casual fan but if you put it to fan vote the Parchment will win pretty comfortably so for this reason it would go down slightly better

Re DVDs: I really think they’re waiting for retirement to do more archival releases. By then there will probably be a clearer idea on how to release that sort of thing (DVDs aren’t it but maybe there’s a streaming/subscription type of option).
Oh yeah when they do retire there will definitely will be a cleaning out of the vault. They will milk that cash cow for as long as they can
