The Future Past tour 2023

I don’t see the need for rehearsing before shows like Metallica. I think it’ll all be sorted by third show.

MARK MY WORDS.
This almost sounds as if rehearsing before a tour is beneath Maiden and only for "weaker" bands or something lol
Rehearsing your music before you perform in front of audiences is the least a musician can do. It's the basic obligation they need to fulfill, since they expect the audience's money.

If they had monitor issues all night then I would say sort that out and they will be fine. Although I did see a vid of Nicko taken by his wife on the way to the arena. He said he was nervous, more so than ever. His words. They know this tour is a big deal to Maiden fans and may have led to some extra opening night jitters than usual

I think they will do some rehearsing and tighten things up. But I do not see them being at the venue at 1pm and rehearsing in a back room before shows. I don’t believe they’re even at the venue until an hour or two before show time

Especially with ticket prices being as high as they are, opening night shouldn't be used to knock any rust off and get through it full of mistakes.
In saying that I doubt anyone left last night feeling ripped off. It was still a very good performance despite the issues.

Metallica mix up their setlist and might need to freshen up ahead of shows. For Maiden I feel like it's a question of rehearsing enough. Two weeks in Split for this setlist was a joke!

That doesn't always help them tho, Metallica shows are often with mistakes even multiple shows in, Kirk or Lars are always stuffing something up .
Funny enough, for all the times I've seen them, I've seen James fuck up more often than Lars. Kirk's good for a solo/harmony goof once a night. Click/dumbing down his playing's done wonders for Lars as of late.

Aside from the 3 songs from SiT that they haven't play in years or at all they are also playing for the the first time 4 Senjutsu songs that they recorded over 4 years ago now.

I reckon that this band had done a run through of the likes of CSIT and Alex many moons ago, to check the feasibility of this tour. Theres no way that they decided on this tour and the 5/5 split without first playing through the SiT songs. So 2 weeks in Split was not the only rehearsal that was done, no way.

I've not read the last 10 pages or so but if people are giving out about the first night performance of a difficult set list then you need to check yo'selves, bitches. To rehearse too much can kill the vibe. Better to work it out on the road in an energised environment. I personally don't feel ripped off if I see a band and they fuck something up. I even love to see the interaction between band members when something goes wrong, the glances, the facial expressions of the humans that are doing difficult shit for my entertainment.

I'm not excusing sloppiness or a lack of care but you can rehearse all you want, nothing replicates performing in front of a crowd.

I would take mistakes showing they are human playing 100% live over any band out there using backing tracks that's for sure.

Seen theorising that because Alexander the Great is finally in the setlist that this is the last one. And I honestly think that’s the biggest kid I’ve ever heard. If this was it, there’s no way that they’d have dropped Hallowed and Beast, not to mention that Hills would probably be there too. But I think Nicko may be beyond it before too long. His words from Flight 666 about never wanting to be a parody are suddenly hitting home.

Let them film the next show, cancel other shows and retire. They can make new albums without touring. Let Nicko go gracefully. It IS sad but is true and he and the band deserved it. Imo
