The Future Past tour 2023

I actually disagree with this: I wish they'd do more vocal and guitar dubbing. The last time they did this was Brave New World and it's the best sounding reunion era album.

The issue is actually lack of guitar layers. Maiden no longer plays guitar harmonies on their new material. That was literally the Maiden trademark! They're content with two rhythm guitars playing chords along with the bass and one guitar playing the vocal melody in the same key as Bruce's vocals.
I agree. Especially vocal dubbing. BNW is a perfect example. The harmonies need to be back, even only for one song.
I think it's a lock. Bruce wants to play it and it's the only other Gers song on the record. So either they play Time Machine or they play Stratego again (which I doubt).

In theory, Adrian and Bruce are getting at least two songs this tour = DOFP and TWOTW because it went down so well last time. Steve is getting Hell On Earth almost assuredly and Time Machine is also co-written by Steve. The last song is a total toss up between Darkest Hour, LIALW and Celts.
This. The last song will be Parchemnt, or Celts/Darkest Hour with no better chances than it imo.

Despite being fake, it's a great set! And, with the exception of "Iron Maiden" not closing the main set, it's a realistic one.
Stratego in the encore is definitely not realistic, nor is the 16 song length even if one of them is Wrathchild. Same goes for dropping Hallowed, not gonna happen unless some other punter shows up and sues the band for ripping him off.

About the lenght of the set, it would be 96 min, which is totally plausible. About Stratego in the encore, considering the encores of the last tours, that included some unusual songs for this part of the show, such as Wasted Years, The Clansman and Aces High, I don't see Stratego as something absurd or unrealistic. Besides that, it's one of the most popular songs of Senjutsu and worked well alive (at least here in Brazil). But I agree with you about Hallowed, even because it would mean no TNOTB songs in the set.

Do you really think "The Time Machine" is a certain? I know it fits the theme of the tour and is the Harris/Gers "epic" of the album, but I personally think it's the weakest song of the album, mainly because its lyrics. Considering that TWOTW, Days Of Future Past, Hell On Earth and Parchment/Celts/LIALW (as the second epic) are the most likely, I think Darkest Hour would be a better choice as the 5th Senjutsu song, even because it's the ballad of the album.
I personally think there's three Senjutsu songs that are a lock. The Writing on the Wall and Hell on Earth for their popularity and Days of Future Past for, well, it's the name of the tour.

This! Agree 1000% I could not articulate it properly for myself. Imo, that's why they could not fully achieve level of 80's greatness. Harmonies are one of the pillars of Maiden style.I adore guitar harmonies and I miss them in Maiden's music.

Can you help me remember how was the Book of Souls tour setlist in terms of new album songs played. Was there any surprise inclusion or omission? I guess very few dared to include Empire in their setlist speculation. I guess Shadow of the Valley might have been candidate for one spot. But all in all it seemed more easier to predict which album songs might get live appearance. This time, Hell on Earth, WotW and Days of Future Past seem like certain, but from there on, anything's possible.

You can probably search this forum for that but I remember feeling like there was an obvious six songs for that tour. Speed of Light being the single was a gimme, The Red and the Black was the obligatory Harris epic, Book of Souls seemed like a lock as well. Otherwise they always play the openers and the band made a lot out of Tears of a Clown which made that one seem plausible. Song six was probably more unclear, I can’t remember whether the band hinted at playing Death or Glory ahead of time, in retrospect it seems like an obvious choice but I can’t quite remember. I imagine a lot of folks had accurate predictions though, definitely way easier to predict than what they’ve got going this time around.

I remember thinking Great Unknown would never get played because of weird guitar tuning stuff, but obviously was proven wrong when it got added in 2017. That was a nice surprise!

I think we would have Senjutsu, Stratego, WOTW, Time Machine, DOFP and Hell on Earth played in an usual album tour. Now I can see them including another epic instead of Senjutsu and Stratego, most likely The Parchment.

The funny part is, they were always gonna play it and Adrian even mentioned being a little nervous of the tuning in a pre-tour interview, but Nicko wanted to play Tears and so it got included in the 2016 set instead. I seem to recall thinking it was obviously gonna be picked so it was a little surprising when 2017 rolled around and they actually played TGU instead.

Agreed about Stratego. I could see them dropping Hallowed if they pull out CSIT and Alex.
I really don't. The only two times it's been done were solely for legal reasons and multiple band members have labeled it essentially mandatory in their live set. They settled the lawsuit just in time just so they could get it back for 2018.

I think BOS was more clear cut working on them playing perhaps 5-6 songs.
Eternity, Speed, BOS, Red, and even Death Or Glory were pretty certain to be played. Wasnt any surprise when those were infact included.
I guess Tears Of A Clown was the 'wildcard'

I really don't think Celts of Darkest Hour are being considered so ill stick with them not being played.
Locks for me are WOTW, DOFP and the epic thats certain is Hell On Earth purely because of its popularity being the second most streamed song off the album.
Time Machine seems a pretty good bet.
And the 5th song will really be a toss up between Parchment and Lost In A Lost World.
I can actually see them considering it because of how different the song is, Bruce could be as theatrical as he wants with the inro / outro and it has live epic written all over it with the instrumental still.
But im sticking with it Being Parchment based on Nicko calling it the song off the album he wants to do the most

I would go with the Parchement. It’s pretty easy for them all to pull it off and I feel that it could be the new Red and the Black live (trading solos, a chance to show off) The increased live tempo will suit it as well.

By the way, as it was talked about the song Killers earlier here..
Why was it not picked for the setlist for Eddie Rips Up World Tour? And it was last played in 1999 and I think it worked quite nicely then.

Great Unknown getting added on the second year of the tour was a surprise inclusion considering (besides the Brave New World Tour perhaps?) the band's usually started with new material then started cutting/replacing various new songs as the tour progressed.

The 2016 pacing of New Song -> New Song -> Old Rarity -> New Song -> New Song was a bold choice to start the show.
