Is there a source (i.e., interview) for this? I am not saying it is not true, but I had never heard it before.
Erm, I believe it was just before TBOS tour or just after the start. Maybe in IMFC magazine.

H basically said that 2MTM is overplayed and he doesn't want to play it on TBOS tour. I think it was the same interview/magazine where Bruce or Steve mentioned that they want to drop either TNOTB or RTTH for TBOS tour.

Both Janick and Adrian? And both of them follow the vocal line in The Parchment. At least the first part of the song.
Nah. Senjutsu chorus is just H. And he is playing the chorus melody loosely. Not like Janick who plays them note for note in most cases.

Are we talking about the same melody line? I can definitely hear two guitars, and live Jan plays the lower part and Adrian higher.

Yeah you are right. Just watched the RIR footage and yeah, Janick plays the chorus melody too (an octave down), but he leaves some notes out.

Thinking about the Samurai and the Cyborg - I hope we will see a backdrop of the two together like the artwork for Legacy '22. The promised battle!

  • The Time Machine is the perfect song for that.

Do you really think "The Time Machine" is a certain? I know it fits the theme of the tour and is the Harris/Gers "epic" of the album, but I personally think it's the weakest song of the album, mainly because its lyrics. Considering that TWOTW, Days Of Future Past, Hell On Earth and Parchment/Celts/LIALW (as the second epic) are the most likely, I think Darkest Hour would be a better choice as the 5th Senjutsu song, even because it's the ballad of the album.

Same octave vocal melody guitar doubling is, hands down, my least favorite thing about modern Maiden.
This. Extensive guitar and vocal dubbing is shite in my opinion.

What Steve has done with that since FTGGOG, which has some very innovative things in that department on choruses, is plain lazy.

I especially hate Janick's high pitch present tone choking out Bruce's vocals.

Senjutsu is the only passable song with that on the new album IMO. And that's because H is a vocalist and knows how to approach this and this probably started as an instrumental ah track and it sounds like H wanted a slightly different vocal lines on choruses than his playing.

I actually disagree with this: I wish they'd do more vocal and guitar dubbing. The last time they did this was Brave New World and it's the best sounding reunion era album.

The issue is actually lack of guitar layers. Maiden no longer plays guitar harmonies on their new material. That was literally the Maiden trademark! They're content with two rhythm guitars playing chords along with the bass and one guitar playing the vocal melody in the same key as Bruce's vocals. It's pure laziness.

I think it's a lock. Bruce wants to play it and it's the only other Gers song on the record. So either they play Time Machine or they play Stratego again (which I doubt).

In theory, Adrian and Bruce are getting at least two songs this tour = DOFP and TWOTW because it went down so well last time. Steve is getting Hell On Earth almost assuredly and Time Machine is also co-written by Steve. The last song is a total toss up between Darkest Hour, LIALW and Celts.

Again, I'll purchase a hat and then eat it if they play Parchment.

The last song that had some layers was IESF and those were likely made by Roy Z on the demo.

:D
