The Future Past tour 2023

As far as the average setlist prediction goes, LIALW and DOTC are among the less likely to be played. I'd love to see the former in the setlist, but with ATG and HOE being almost mandatory at this point, playing LIALW would mean having three never-played-before epics in the setlist. Maybe LIALW, DOTC, and Parchment are in contention for one spot, and rehearsals will determine the outcome.
I agree. I think it's very unlikely they will play LIALW (imo it's the weakest song from Senjutsu). Not sure about DOTC, though, because it has that "The Clansman" vibe, and because The Clansman has become a fan favorite, I could imagine them playing DOTC because of it.

I really have no clue about the epics from Senjutsu they will play, to be honest. Hoping for HoE and The Parchment.

I would trade Writing on The Wall and Days Of Future Past for Lost in A Lost World to be played live :edmetal:

edit: just listened to this song and noticed that Adrian's? guitar solo tone is similar to that on Bruce's The Chemical Wedding.
To me this song is equal to Childhood's End - hidden/unfound gem.

Wondering when the official store might come up with new Tshirts - actually I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet.
When the tour starts? Isn't the new tour merch released hours before the first show? It will contain some setlist spoilers I guess.
I believe we'll know their location sooner or later.
I guess we should see the first photos soon.
Let's try to predict the upcoming setlist based on the 5+5+5 theory (classics-SIT-Senjutsu):

5 classics:

Fear Of The Dark
The Number Of The Beast
Iron Maiden
The Trooper
Hallowed Be Thy Name

5 SiT:

Caught Somewhere In Time
Stranger In A Strange Land
Wasted Years
Heaven Can Wait
Alexander The Great

5 Senjutsu:

The Time Machine
Days Of Future Past
The Parchment
Hell On Earth
The Writing On The Wall
The ones you listed, but I'd replace Heaven Can Wait with Sea Of Madness. They might also replace one of the 5 classics, but I'm not sure.

You could be right. I always thought Lost World is the less likely to be played from the album. I think it's a great live song (with beautiful intro/outro, melodies, verses, riffs) - the chorus will be huge live.

Very true about Celts. A perfect ''live ready'' song. I think they'll end up playing Hell On Earth (for sure) & Parchment.
I love Lost just fine, just there are other songs from Senjutsu I'd rather hear live (because they're not doing a AMOLAD tour)
I want to hear all songs from the album live. :) The most - Hell On Earth, Parchment and Celts. Then - Lost World, Darkest Hour, Time Machine.

Very true about Adrian's guitar tone and I love it. Lost World or Time Machine are the hidden gems it seems.
I have 2 problems with LIALW:

1) Sounds like any generic song from X Factor;
2) Very uninspired chorus - and I can easily hear Bruce struggling/not sounding ok on it.
It sounds more lively than most of the songs from TXF. The chorus is the most difficult to perform live, so there's that.
Imo, Death of The Celts is no where near The Clansman in terms of catchiness and crowd participation. And I don't speak about song quality per se here.
That's true. The instrumental section of Celts is very catchy.

Did you guys talk about this before?

Some well-known brazilian website about maiden (imbnoticias) has posted this yesterday:

According to them, those symbols are from Lost in a Lost World, The Time Machine and Death of the Celts.
Interesting. It could be true. Especially for Celts, although Parchment is more popular than both epics. They love hints, but was the setlist already decided when the tour was announced?

No chance all 3 get played.
I could see all three of them, plus “Writing” and “Days”. Just means that they’d be passing over “Parchment” and “Hell on Earth”. I’m not putting a lot of stock in it personally, but I could see them doing that set I came up with with the two epics switched.

1. Caught Somewhere in Time
2. Days of Future Past
3. The Trooper
4. The Writing on the Wall
5. Stranger in a Strange Land
6. Lost in a Lost World
7. Heaven Can Wait
8. The Time Machine
9. Death of the Celts

10. Fear of the Dark
11. Iron Maiden
—Encore 1–
12. The Number of the Beast
13. Hallowed Be Thy Name
14. Wasted Years
—Encore 2–
15. Alexander the Great

Nothing is set in stone.

I think it would be intresting to have the situation like we had with Charlotte the Harlot in 2005, Stranger in a Strange Land in 1999 or Paschendale in 2010, a song that is only played for the first few shows. Caught Somewhere in Time perhaps? Or perhaps a Senjutsu song.

Considering how easy it seems to make a pretty believable 5+5+5 setlist that seems like a safe bet, I'm expecting the actual setlist have have a few curveballs that weren't either seen as likely or didn't happen to be predicted.

On TBOS for example most people had the pulse on which new songs would be played but I don't think Blood Brothers, Wasted Years or Powerslave were particularly popular predictions at all, even if somewhat logical. Sign of the Cross was a similar surprise in the LOTB set and (if Nicko hadn't spoiled it) Where Eagles Dare too.

Meanwhile, they didn't include a single Somewhere in Time song, although IIRC that was because HCW was once again vetoed by the crew and they played Wicker Man instead. But still, it was an odd omission. I'm expecting at least one similar unpredictable omission this time.

Childhood's End is one of the best Maiden songs of the 90's. A fantastic track.

Also, agree on your other points. LIALW is one of my favorites on Senjutsu actually, and my second favorite epic on the album, number 1 being HOE; TP third and DOTC probably my least favorite on the entire record. Celts isn't a bad song, but I like everything else on the album much more. Plus, like you said, it's not as catchy as Clansman.

Will definitely get the main tour shirt (the SIT one has this rather ugly green/beige/yellow/brown-ish colour unfortunately), but man, did I forget how expensive Maiden shirts are compared to other bands lol
