The Future Past tour 2023

I’m going to ask folks to try and keep this thread on topic. Making fun of Bruce and beer was a lot of fun for 20 pages (not to mention the other threads where this is happening) but there are people who are interested in discussing the tour/speculating about the stage and Setlist so let’s keep the topic related to the tour itself. @Spambot posted some interesting questions about the tour and I would like to encourage more of that quality content.

I've had a few more than usual jokes as of late but you are right. We should reel it in a little bit. A little bit of fun now and then is fine but it can get out of hand sometimes.

But make no mistake Maiden was/is/shall be my all time favorite and I can't wait for this tour to start. They have a chance to really mix things up here setlist wise. Let's drop FotD for Infinite Dreams this time, shall we?

WHAT IF, Alexander The Great live will be not trainwreck but diamond? Worth to wait and see. I agree that Infinite Dreams is very strong song. Also in my top 5.

Yes but then always can happen the good old "it did not work" excuse and they play Wrathchild.
With 3 guitars now such an excuse no longer works. Bruce will have no problem with it. And it also sounds like a very good live song.

Btw, I'm really curious about the backdrops for this particular tour - will they be more landscapes or more with Eddies? I can't tell. It would be curious to see the backdrop for Long Distance Runner! Other curious ones would be: Sea Of Madness, Alexander, Deja-Vu, Parchment and Hell On Earth.

I don't understand this love for Alexander the Great. I would take Infinite dreams over Alexander every day of week.

Same here. Of all the 80s songs that I have yet to see Maiden play live (I've seen them on every tour since 1996), Infinite Dreams and Stranger in a Strange Land would my choices.

That being said, it would be nice to hear something never played live for a change.

I believe we'll know their location sooner or later.

But anyway, I would not like to know the setlist before Ljubljana. I would like to have some joy exploring it myself as usual.

Let's try to predict the upcoming setlist based on the 5+5+5 theory (classics-SIT-Senjutsu):

5 classics:

Fear Of The Dark
The Number Of The Beast
Iron Maiden
The Trooper
Hallowed Be Thy Name

5 SiT:

Caught Somewhere In Time
Stranger In A Strange Land
Wasted Years
Heaven Can Wait
Alexander The Great

5 Senjutsu:

The Time Machine
Days Of Future Past
The Parchment
Hell On Earth
The Writing On The Wall

Based on the above, let's see a realistic setlist:

  1. Caught Somewhere In Time
  2. Wasted Years
  3. The Writing On The Wall
  4. The Trooper
  5. Heaven Can Wait
  6. The Time Machine
  7. Days Of Future Past
  8. Stranger In A Strange Land
  9. The Parchment
  10. Fear Of The Dark
  11. The Number Of The Beast
  12. Iron Maiden
  13. Alexander The Great
  14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
  15. Hell On Earth

You picked the same songs I did, just placed them in a different order:

Iron Maiden
The Future Past Tour
Diesel's Prediction

Tape: "Doctor Doctor" by UFO
Intro: "End Titles" from Blade Runner

1. Caught Somewhere in Time
2. Days of Future Past
3. The Trooper
4. The Writing on the Wall
5. Stranger in a Strange Land
6. The Parchment
7. Heaven Can Wait
8. The Time Machine
9. Fear of the Dark
10. Hell on Earth
11. Iron Maiden

— Encore 1 —
12. The Number of the Beast
13. Hallowed Be Thy Name

14. Wasted Years

— Encore 2 —
15. Alexander the Great (356-323 B.C.)

If it came down to a choice of Infinite Dreams or Alexander I almost want to go with the former. But since I've seen Infinite live before and not Alexander I would choose the Great one. They are both fantastic songs (even though the lyrics to Alex are a bit wonky)

As far as the average setlist prediction goes, LIALW and DOTC are among the less likely to be played. I'd love to see the former in the setlist, but with ATG and HOE being almost mandatory at this point, playing LIALW would mean having three never-played-before epics in the setlist. Maybe LIALW, DOTC, and Parchment are in contention for one spot, and rehearsals will determine the outcome.
