Aces High isn't the only one that was slower, FOTD in particular was, but others were too. It's probably a combination of Nicko getting older and the metronome count ins. I dont think Bruce's voice has any impact on the tempos, or choice of songs they do, if anything Bruce is so stubborn that if songs were causing him trouble then that would mean he definitely would choose to do them.

Also, when people are taking a pop at Bruce and Nicko they ignore the elephant in the room, that songs are at a slower tempo now because one member is always complaining about songs being too fast and as a result the band are counted in from a metronome at the studio album tempos.
If you think the early 2022 Aces High performances are near studio tempo then you must be on tranquillizers.

Studio tempo is approx 124bpm (though it gets faster as the song goes on and is over 130bpm at the solo)
Live After Death is 120bpm (tempo does drift quite a bit throughout)
Flight 666 is 120bpm (fairly steady)
Belgrade '22 was 114bpm and feels really slow.

Wasn’t the 1999 version of the song the closest it’s ever been to the studio tempo?

Aces being an exception, I don’t mind the band slowing down a bit. Let those songs get their full weight across.

Seemed like it was even faster. It was blistering on the Ed Hunter tour.

Obviously the tempo was noticeably slower during most of the 2022 tour but I think (to these old ears anyway) they picked up the tempo near the end of the tour. Playing the song as the final encore instead of opening the set surely had something to do with it. I think if they play CSIT they should definitely play it first when everyone is fresh.

FOTD has been played slower for years from the album version

Aces High was a weak moment for Bruce in the last tour, but it was also the last song of the set and we are talking about one out of six band members. That’s a pretty big stretch to the band having problems with “chunks of their discography.” Also, why are we already complaining about the live performances of songs that we don’t even know are going to be played this year?

For what is worth, I do not think Maiden are even considering this. They will probably keep playing live as long as the money keeps rolling regardless of them being faithful (or not) to the original tempo of the studio versions of their songs.
I'm not sure about that. They have dignity.
There were some nights of the tour last year in which Aces High sounded good. Bruce still sings the difficult high songs live in their original key (ok, without Starblind, Montségur and Thin Line). There's nothing wrong with the songs towards the end of the set sounding a bit slower now, but some of the earlier ones were too... I think Nicko will be in better shape this year, last year was kind of a warm up after 2 years. As for Bruce, we already know, and tbh, I always knew. They also started playing Hallowed in its original studio tempo. The slower tempo is only really noticeable in the faster songs and I don' think Bruce is the reason. Imo, that's why Steve prefers to concentrate on touring now (as opposed to releasing more albums like the other old bands, although he has a plan for that too). Remember how they joked in 2003 (DOTR documentary) that they couldn't see themselves playing Run To The Hills in their 70s. And here we are now!

This added to the fact that Bruce is singing like a god on "Tears Of The Dragon" and "Jerusalem" during his Jon Lord's tour now. :)

Just look at the videos :

So, Bruce is still able to sing high notes and well. So, there's no worries to have about his performance of the next Maiden tour. ;)

I’d say there is a massive difference between singing those songs, where Bruce can breathe, and the mid-80s vocal tour de force vocal lines, but I might be alone in thinking that.

Bruce is way more than one out of six.
It’s not like Janick hit his arm or something and they’ve canceled shows for that (!) back in 2000.

*EDIT: Could be worse, cancelling shows for Bruce hitting his arm hahaha what a dick! :D

You’re not alone. He is definetly a lot more comfortable on his own material, songs he wrote in Maiden (like Revelations) and stuff he did for Ayreon, the recent Concerto suite etc

That's why Janick accompanies Bruce's vocals in so many reunion songs. This way if Bruce hurts himself or something they don't need to cancel the shows since the vocal melodies are still there :innocent::D

Amen! Maiden go instrumental in Greece!
Adrian sings Alexander the Great and a few other deep cuts. Reach Out in the mix, Steve having second thoughts, finally decides to keep the little man as a back vocalist, part time lyricist & beer promoter.
Greeks set what forest is unburnt on fire to celebrate.
