Sixth Powerslave Song Played Live?

I got the discogs guy to post the tape on YouTube. What do y’all think?
That's a great surprise! Wow! I wish we could hear the whole song.
Really fast riff from Adrian, just a few seconds of tape, but the beginning is the end of TNOTB and Bruce says the song title the same way like he announced ''Total Eclipse'' back in 1982 (BOH).

So, ''Flash Of The Blade'' and ''The Duellists'' remain only from Powerslave.

Not intended as a authoritative source, however the bootleg suggests that the placement of BITW is correct!

But the jury is still out on the bootleg, and the fact that there's a setlist on setlist.fm doesn't add any further evidence. For all we know, someone read this thread and then made up a setlist for this to post.

Yea, so I'm curious what everybody thinks about the bootleg. A recorded setlist from a reviewer at the gig is pretty definitive, but obviously, a bootleg trumps that if it's authentic. I have some concerns though. It almost seems too perfect. The reel contains only one song from Powerslave and it just so happens to be the song that was allegedly only played once in Maiden's history at this show. AND the clip is just enough to hear Bruce introducing the song and a snippet of the riff. The whole thing is kinda fishy. The way the riff is played is also kind of a red flag, would Adrian really start a song off that fast? On the other hand, it definitely sounds like Bruce introducing the track, that kinda has me convinced.

Also, what song is ending at the start of the clip? It doesn't sound like Beast to me.

Jesus, Adrian's playing that at a rate of knots. I imagine the rest of the song would've sounded a bit chaotic, wonder if that was why they dropped it.
i think this was the case. and they changed it to sanctuary, lot easier song to play live imo.

that entry on setlist dot fm popped up few months ago. but i agree that setlist dot fm is not a 100% reliable source.

Seems legit to me. Surely the real question is whether the whole song was recorded and is just missing from that particular reel-to-reel tape, or it was it never recorded?

Setlist.fm is a bad source for anything other than concerts that occurred during the internet era IMO, and even then it's questionable.

Btw I don't find the fact that we have guitar-anouncement-guitar part only sus. TNOTB was a big maiden hit, they wanted to record that and then stop the recording after the song ended. Or they cut it on editing if they recorded more idk

Also, the fact that we don't really hear anything of the song except for the very beginning. I agree the voice sounds much like Bruce, even if the "a" in "village" is pronounced rather strangely. This could be a recording of a Maiden cover band, although admittedly it seems there would be a very big crowd for that by the sound of it. I'm afraid that until there's more of this recording, even just up to Bruce starting to sing, this recording can't prove very much.

Are they from the same day?
idk honestly. they played 5 nights in a row at poland to kick off the tour:

Thu 9 Aug - Warsaw, POLAND (Torwar Sports Hall)
Fri 10 Aug - Lodz, POLAND (Sporthall Aleja Polit)
Sat 11 Aug - Poznan, POLAND (Arena)
Sun 12 Aug - Wroclaw, POLAND (Folks Hall)
Tue 14 Aug - Zabrze, POLAND (Sportshall Makoszowy)

And the back in the village part is claimed to be a recording of the 1st night.

Funny what people believe when they want to believe... So, the guy who wrote the article saying the song wasn't played live, 2 different persons who were at the concert and don't remember a song that hasn't been played anywhere else, a member of the band and even a reporter... No one exactly remembers that the song wasn't played? Also, with the digital manipulation of voice files you can basically make anyone say whatever you want... So that bootleg is still shit... Ah! In we're to believe that this is real, we should also believe that Quest For Fire was played, after all, Steve said it himself in an interview.

This isn't really helpful. I'm not convinced one way or the other yet, but the recording warrants being taken seriously. When presented with credible evidence you have to weigh it with everything else even if it contradicts the current narrative or discredits information in your book.

The question becomes what would it take to be able to believe without a shadow of a doubt that this recording is authentic? A recording of the full song would certainly help.

There are AI voice generators out there but all the ones I've heard have identifiable quirks, and that's for prominent figures such as world leaders that have lots of samples out there to generate fakes. I have a hard time believing that the best AI voice I've heard to date is of Bruce Dickinson in a fake bootleg that only a handful of fans care about.

It could be a recording of a Maiden cover band. The playing style and speed really make me question whether it's Adrian. That could easily be spliced with crowd noise. Also I'm sure a little bit of sleuthing could help us find the cover band recording that is used as a source, since it's probably not a commonly covered song.

Another thing I thought of is that it could be rehearsal audio mixed with crowd noise, but again it seems like a lot of effort to go through for something like this.

For me it mostly comes down to the Bruce clip. I have a hard time explaining away that one.

The speed of the recording doesn't necessarily say anything since the pitch is off so the tape is likely running too fast as well, which is pretty common for 80s bootlegs. If you took it down to how it's actually supposed to sound like, the tempo should get to reasonable levels as well.
