Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

View attachment 16340
Found another one. Just read very fast in the store. Contains two reviews of the album. One said opening track drumming resembles taiko drums. Also said one would need multiple listens to get into
I hope, my copy is in the mailbox, when I get home from my holiday in Holland on Saturday. It has to, else I'll kill Bill aka the mailman. :innocent: In case FTB or Perun left out interesting parts in their translations, I'll be glad to keep you posted (and get my two minutes of fame). However, I reckon that we might have got a lot of other reviews by that time, so perhaps there is no reason to tell the same story twice. We'll see. ;)

I’ve always held out hope that Maiden could release one more album to the same standard as their 80’s efforts. Senjutsu could be the one!

Hot take: Maiden have never lost the standard they set during the ‘80s. Even the worst albums are pretty great.
This shouldn't even be a hot take on an iron maiden forum, to be honest. Even when I say albums X,Y and Z are my least favourite, what I really mean is "I only listen to half the songs outside of the context of the album" - which is still huge given the number of albums - or even bands - with only one or two songs I care about.

Loudwire said Darkest Hour would work on a Bruce solo album and the first part of the review that was translated by FTB said the same about Senjutsu! I kind of wish I didn't read anything because now I'm WAY WAY WAY TOOOOOOOO hyped!!!

I forgot something: Bruce states his opinions on the post-reunion albums. He says BNW was fantastic, DOD was more experimental, AMOLAD is first-class and underrated, TFF was 'okay', TBOS was 'good' but Senjutsu is special.
I posted above before I got to this post. Super mega skyrocketed hype level has been ultra insanely hyped!!! Oh dear! We just might have to start a Senjutsu therapy thread in madness!

A lot of Bruce’s solo stuff could also work on a Maiden album (and some actually did) so I didn’t see this comment as having too much meaning.

Our 2 classic rock stations never play Maiden. Not even RTTH…

The biggest rock/metal oriented radio station here (cleverly called Radio Rock) gives Maiden quite a lot of airplay, but it's usually Trooper-RTTH-666-FOTD-Wasted Years etc. - obvious enough. Of course The Writing On The Wall has been up there as well recently.

I've said this somewhere here before, but as an interesting Maiden airplay-obscurity, the same station once played Age of Innocence and Only the Good Die Young right after one another. :D It was due to a special show though, their playlists are generally quite boring, as you'd expect.

The other, relatively big rock station (Radio City) has a knack of playing some deeper cuts. It's not like they'd blast out Infinite Dreams or Alexander the Great, but for whatever reason they've played stuff like From Here to Eternity or Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter every now and then. I mean, they're single releases anyway and especially the latter is quite a popular song, but they're relatively obscure choices anyway. Same with Metallica for example, they do dig the vaults a little bit outside the most obvious picks, but their playlists in general are pretty generic anyway.

Then again, I'm not expecting much more from commercial radio stations. I don't fancy listening to Maiden songs from the radio anyway. Any (positive) media & airplay coverage for the band is obviously good thing itself, I guess!

I’ll never forget listening to the HVMAN. :||: NATVRE. debut on Radio Rock. I couldn’t understand a word that Tuomas, Kai, or the interviewers said, but hearing those songs for the first time was awesome and I still love that revved up “RRRRRRADIO RRRROCK!” that interjected the songs.
