Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

"Bruce’s folky, storytelling cadence flows right into the crashing distortion as tension builds… and builds, and builds. Steve likes writing a lot of lyrics, what can we say?"

I don't like this part. Please, no struggling Bruce.
Don't worry. Bruce will not be struggling... check TRATB studio version.

Aren't you over hyped? At least for me I see these reviews from big magazines as been written in the Maiden's Office and sent to selected journalists to excite people to preorder IM material. Book of Souls 10/10? Nah!
Some love TBOS. I don't, but a fair chunk do.

It seems that we will get a lot of folk vibes and melodies on the album, I like that.

But also this review is written by some diehard Maiden fans and he looks overexited so I dont know how accurate this review is.

Man, that synopsis was really encouraging. I took away that this album will be a pleasant mix of new and slightly familiar which is pretty much exactly what should be expected on a bands 17th album.

Based solely on that review, I'm most excited about the title track, Darkest Hour and Hell on Earth, but they all sound promising. I appreciate that a über-Maiden fan wrote it as I feel like it was approached similarly to how we will probably end up seeing this album.

I just don't want to be so overhyped. The last albums I always have set my expectations high and I always been a little disappointed, although all of these albums are pretty good and solid. Maybe this is the reason why a lot of songs becomes growers on us.

Edit:

But even if this album be at the same level of TBOS, that is my least favorite of the new era, I will be very satisfied.

Based on this review, I'm excited for all songs...

but I'm most excited for - Stratego, Days Of Future Past, The Time Machine, Darkest Hour, The Parchment and Hell On Earth.

You can tell the exitement/fandom is shining through and it makes for a fun review but sometimes a more objective review by someone not a Maiden "über-fan" can also be really interesting and paint a better picture of the actual music.

There can be some truth to this. At least in the past. Music journalists could get goodies/merchandise, access to interviews or listening party trips etc payed for them in exchange/hope of them making a positive review of the album. Not saying that this has happened here. Just that it used to happen :)
