Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

We don’t know for sure that there was a “last year’s recording”. Either way I’m pumped.
Of course we don't, but we actually do. The band are also fully aware that some fans know, but we are very few so they can pretend it's a secret.

Kevin Shirley spilled the beans when he said he had worked on an un-named but not very secret project. The only band he was rumoured to be working with back then was Maiden.

I'm in agreement that all evidence points to new Maiden. But I also think there's a non-weak possibility that there actually isn't a new Maiden. Bananas.

For the first time, he admitted they were on studio.

Big surprise, right? No.

Anyway, very happy to see some Maiden news.

I told you guys! Stop the drama! We will see Maiden again between 2021-2022. I'm sure of that.
His phrasing indicates they've been writing and doing some studio work during the Covid downtime. I know there's PILES of evidence suggesting the album's already been recorded in 2019 or whatever, but yet again, this gives me doubts that that was actually the case. Wish they'd just effing announce it already.

It's rare, but we have seen bands release new songs well ahead of their new album. A couple of examples are Metallica with Lords Of Summer and Rush with Caravan and BU2B so anything is possible with Maiden.

So do we think they've actually been doing any writing/studio work during covid or is Bruce twisting the truth a little and really referring to last year's recording? (my money is in the latter)

At least we finally have some kind of confirmation that there's a new album through an official channel. Hopefully this means we won't be waiting too long until they are talking about it out in the open?

first sentence I agree with you.

Second sentence, me being the eternal optimist, I see Bruce letting the cat out of the bag on an official channel as meaning the pre-release album hype has kicked off. I feel a release is coming sooner than I was expecting yesterday.

Call me a cynic, but a video of one of the band leaders addressing the fans probably means they have something ready to sell.

Apart from the product placement of FC mags and H's book, you mean

Yeah it could be hype for the rumoured live album, but my feeling is that if the album was shelved until a long time in the future Rod would have put the kibosh on there being any mention of studios.

I also thought it was funny Bruce mentioning talking to Steve as if it was some sort of ominous sign or like when the heads of all the Mafia families have a big pow wow, if Bruce and Steve are talking some shit is about to go down!

Why insiting on the commercial and financial side? This is your bias. They are musicians, and we know for sure that his cancer has renewed Bruce's energy and desire to sing for a long time, while Steve obviously loves and needs to go onstage. So these guys must genuinely suffer the situation and eagerly await their come back. I know money is not a secondary matter for the band, but this is not only because they are greedy: remember he said a word about the crew, and those guys need to eat. Tom Araya once said very interesting things about the pressure of knowing that many people depend on you to make a living for their family.

The bit about the crew is probably the best of the whole video. Recently Adrian mentioned that they have found some money to keep them going (or words to that effect). Nice to see them taking good care of their employees.

Didn't read that. Did he say something specific or was it vague?

He mentioned it during one of the recent interviews promoting his book, but I cannot remember which one it was. It was quite vague and I’d like to think he was referring to some of their own money now that the taxpayer’s funded furlough scheme in the UK is coming to an end.

I meant the production. People have been complaining for ages but buying nevertheless.

Oh yeah, my initial reaction to Zare's post is that no they aren't going to do anything differently production wise as they are doing it the way they want to, none of the other production decisions in the past have ever had anything to do with a lack of time.
