Iron Maiden studio album 17 rumours and speculations

At this stage, they're just going to rename Robinson's the "Trooper Beer Company".

I get it, the beer has been a big success, as it should be. It's pretty good.
 
I don't drink, so I don't really care about beer, but what I don't understand is the huge issue some people have with them doing stuff like this.

It's not like they're KISS, selling cheap branded crap while lip-synching their way around the world, outputting no new recorded material, and re-hashing the same old tired setlist again every night. They're recording a new album, continuing one of their most ambitious (setlist and stage set-wise) tours ever, not to mention the beer is a pretty unique thing designed from the ground up with the help of Bruce and a longtime friend of the band.

Besides, it's not as though Maiden doesn't already make a metric f*ckton of money off fans with merchandise... nothing new here, it's just drinkable merch now.

To be honest, I am much more likely to drink a beer than wear a tacky Maiden football shirt.
 
Since you mentioned the K-word, I think that's exactly the problem people have with Maiden going down the beer-and-no-new-music route. The Maiden machine is putting a lot of time and energy into new beers, when some hint of new music would be vastly preferred. They don't put as much effort into other merch.
 
But they're not going down that route, not even by a long shot. They're literally in Paris recording a new album right now. God forbid they build a little suspense and we wait a few weeks without any substantive news. They could just not do anything else besides record music and tour, I suppose... but then people would complain about how long it's been since the website was updated/we got any news/new merch etc. etc. etc.
