Coronavirus

So far in my area all we have really seen is panic and no pandemic. The 2 local Costco's are having trouble keeping their tissue paper and bottled water supplies up, but that's about it.

Pretty much same here, but add any kind of wipes to that list (lysol, etc)

The problem is, that the media is doing the right thing informing people about the danger, but some, who watch too much Discovery Channel are preparing for the end of the world and forget everything the goverment says...

Those people should be dealt with, like @LooseCannon said.

We've had that problem for a few weeks now. As soon as the advice to keep your hands clean was disseminated all the hand sanitizer was gone. It's being rationed by retailers now to stop crazy people stockpiling but there's nothing left to ration. I did manage to find a shop selling some on Sunday and got a couple of bottles - the maximum we were allowed to buy.

Took a 10 reply email thread .. but going to New York next week for a (pretty cool) project kick off ... would not be surprised if I have to sign a waiver to travel.

In local news, story about the Stars game last night and how people attended ... it is just insane the way the news was covering it. They stopped slightly (but not very) short of comparing going to the game the same act of bravery as storming the beaches at Normandy.

The only good thing that will come from this is people and places (at least in the short term) will be more hygenic.

One teacher at a school was stamping kids hands and if they washed them enough by the end of the school day, they get a prize. Not a bad idea to teach some habits. Of course the more old school "wash your hands or you have detention/get whacked by a ruler" approach would probably work too :)

Why toilet paper? Does the virus make you shit a lot?

Runs out quickly - people are preparing for the prospects of not being allowed to leave their houses.

Ahh, @Black Wizard beat me to it.

These people who are panicking and swarming stores should be taken out behind the chemical shed and shot.

They are probably the same people who run over each other in Black Friday sales and stuff.
