As you scream into the web of silence...
By Mastodon? Heard it.Follow it up with Leviathan.

And what is the rating?By Mastodon? Heard it.
Not too sure. I think "Blood And Thunder" fucking rocks, and the rest of the songs are quite solid, but it just doesn't seem to fit the Moby Dick concept as much as they intended. It's probably somewhere in the 80% line. And what is the rating?
Probably what I would rate it do. Not my favorite Mastodon album. Not by a mile. Whales are metal though (see Gojira & Mastodon)Not too sure. Did you seriously just tell the Ahab fan that whales are metal? No shit!!Whales are metal though (see Gojira & Mastodon)
You can't really compare those two, two totally different genres and intentions with them.As an aside, that is one thing about Leviathan - it pales in comparison with The Call Of The Wretched Sea. One is a good, muddy metal album, the other is an absolute masterpiece that throws you upon the mercy of the open ocean.
And only one actually succeeds. You can't really compare those two, two totally different genres and intentions with them.
Agree, the Mastodon album succeeds very well. And only one actually succeeds.
Sike.Agree, the Mastodon album succeeds very well.
Funeral doom. It’s really slow and really heavy, and may not be what you’re used to, but it’s well worth a listen anyway.@Diesel 11, how would you classify The Call of the Wretched Sea? What genre is it predominantly in? I've been meaning to give it a listen, but would like to know more about it first.
Thanks, I'll give it a listen. Need to check out that Acid Bath album as well.Funeral doom. It’s really slow and really heavy, and may not be what you’re used to, but it’s well worth a listen anyway.
You're falling behind
