2014 Tour Rumours

Well you wouldn't really have a choice would you? :p

It makes sense for them to do a 90s-themed tour next summer though. They already done all the 80s "history" tours so a 90s-themed tour would wrap things up nicely.
Plus, it'd be pretty easy and cheap to do. No elaborate stage set, and just swap out all the 7th Son songs for BQOBD, Tailgunner, Here To Eternity, BYDTTS and a couple others and you're all set. Granted, I hope they're not quite that lazy, but it is Maiden after all...

And then they'd have nothing to stop them from new albums and touring new material. This 90's history tour would basically be the end of that whole stretch. Makes sense they'd get it out of way (so quick after Maiden England), so that they can just be looking ahead in the future.

Certainly. I'm sure they'd rather end their careers on a new album tour rather than a 90s set. It would be more fitting as a tribute to the band's career.

And it would extremely underwhelming for the casual gig goer and most Maiden fans. Nowadays it you go and see Maiden you expect to see a show, not just a stack of Marshall amps like in the 90s...

To be honest, I think people are making too much of the appearance of some rather tacky T-shirt designs at Hot Topic... They also have a new 'Stranger in a strange land' T-shirt and a new horrible "Killers tour '81" T-shirt too. ;)
I wouldn't say all their Maiden merch is bad or tacky. I actually got very awesome World Slavery Tour zip-up hoodie from there for Christmas last year.

As long as you get big, colourful backdrops, some smoke and lights and a couple Eddies walking around you're there. Let
s be honest, the Maiden england stage set wasn't that elaborate anyways, they'll probably just do fabric covered in FOTD era artwork rather than ice Eddies this time.

Besides, this is gonna evidently be a festival tour, so as long as they play RTTH, NOTB, 2 Minutes, The Trooper and FOTD, your casual metal fans are going to be happy.

The Maiden England stage set was incredibly elaborate compared to what they were using in the 90s!

Much better choices than most of the songs they could pick up from the 90s albums... :p

Right, but it's still pretty cheap for them, compared to what they were doing in '88 or even '10-'11. It's literally a metal frame on wheels with fabric.

For fucks sake guys, slow down with the posting!

"Come and see us perform live staples from that era, like the singles 'The angel and the gambler' and 'From here to eternity'"...
I would be stunned if they played 'The Angel and the Gambler', but it might be good fun! :P Perun has already suggested that a 90s-themed setlist would be similar to the tracklist of 'From Fear to Eternity'.

I understand the need to play those "classics", but hopefully we'd hear some rarer 1990's songs as well... such as Tailgunner, Be Quick or Be Dead, Sign of the Cross, The Clansman, Futureal? Public Enema Number One? Afraid To Shoot Strangers (again)? No Prayer for the Dying? Wasting Love?

Gaaah.

I disagree. I'd rather see them do something more adventurous, like they did in 2010, and limit the classics to a select few. Maiden England was a pretty big letdown in terms of missed era-appropriate song opportunities, so I hope they get it together this time.

The props from 2012-2013 were really good, better than those used in 1988. ;)
It was pretty underwhelming and flat-looking without any giant iceberg props on stage, IMO. And the original had all that sweet underlighting flanking and in front of the drum riser.
