18th Studio Album discussion

Blaze isn't a bitter guy who lashes out at Maiden and always comes across as grateful for his time with them.
Nowadays, he definitely is very grateful and has nothing but kind words. He knows how valuable and how much of a good experience it was to sing for the greatest band ever.

However, your comment reminded me about this one little nugget where he takes a small, verbal jab at Maiden before playing the song. Around the 0:46 mark. The description says this was in 2007. Although he does reflect positively about his experience around the 4:50 mark as well.

What's the forum opinion on the Alexander the great image posted by Maiden with caption "The devil's in those Great details... ⚔️"?

Is the medusa eddie on the shield a clue to a new single?

There's been a bit of discussion in the interviews thread. But my take is that it's meaningless.

Eddie's has never been depicted left handed; is that image a reflection? Plus, on the back of each of Eddie's shoulders, those soldiers have different eyes, like Eddie's eyes. If we take all the soldiers off the image, are those clouds forming something? Just wondering.

I'm quite sure they'll play "Dream Of Mirrors" instead of "Death Of The Celts". ;)

They’ll record in early 2025 and release in Sept 2026. I’m also expecting some sort of teaser by Bruce on the North American gig maybe hinting towards a new album.

I've already figured out the topic of the 17th album and Belshazzar's feast in the past.

And now a post on social media caught my eye (Alexander's sheet from future past - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/6sNYzhkAsQH5kVeS/ with the description "The devil's in those Great details... ⚔️") from cropped right side. The cropped figures on the shields have single covers, from the left CIPWM, Stratego, Wasted. The main Eddie as Alexander on the shield has an image that has not been published anywhere before - very close to the combination of Perseus with the head of Medusa (Greek mythology).
Additionally, Bruce, while promoting Mandrake Project, said in an interview that Iron Maiden would make Greek fans very happy.

Everything points me to either the live single Alexander from 2023, or the entire future past on DVD. The slightest chance for a single about the myth of Perseus and an announcement of a new album (18th) for the 50th anniversary.

Not necessarily. SJ was recorded in early 2019 with a planned September 2020 release.

If this is another hint campaign (btw the one for TWOTW was around the same time), then Maiden are just too good with that. It would be kind of odd to play a new single during a 50th anniv tour.
The live video from the current tour (which should be released early next year, right?... the tour ends in December) is expected. Alexander as a live single? Maybe, although I think they'll save it for the full release. Fans in Greece want Alexander to be played live on their turf, so Maiden will have to keep the song in the set for next year's tour for that. I'm not sure about that. Bruce (and Maiden) like to tease, but this time it's not that likely methinks, especially since Steve said there are no plans for a new album yet.

Well, I've just verified something and finally I was right. This "clue" could maybe a real one for a new song to be played live on this new leg of the Future Past tour. Someone here has written that the Alexander Eddie was left-handed on the picture, which is quite unusual. And I've made some researches about this detail thinking about a specific movie from 1981 with Harry Hamlin named 'Clash Of The Titans'. On the pictures you can find on Google you can see that Harry Hamlin a.k.a. Perseus as the character he's embodying is left-handed (he's wearing his broadsword in his left hand) exactly as the Alexander Eddie in the drawing/painting that Iron Maiden has posted recently on its Facebook. Plus the fact that Eddie is wearing a shield with the face of Medusa. And you have a real clue to a possible new Iron Maiden song coming next weeks. And it's absolutely not about playing "Alexander The Great" in Greece.

The other thing is the expression used by Iron Maiden in this post on FB : "the devil's in the detail". If you know the movie 'Clash Of The Titans' (1981) with Harry Hamlin, you'll also see that there is a character called Kalibos, who is depicted as a Devil, with horns and whip.

I can add that the army behind "Alexander" looks like squelettons' army in the 1963's movie 'Jason And The Argonauts'.

There is a skeletton on the movie picture above that has a shield on which there is a face that vaguely looks like to Stratego Eddie.

So, if a new song there is, it will be about Greek mythology. That could explain why Bruce and the band said that Greek people will be happy. There it could also be another album, this time with a total concept about Greek mythology and a Perseus or Zeus Eddie.

For me, there is enough speculation about a potential 18th studio album (which will be recorded and released in the next 2 years for sure).

Just a last thing : when Iron Maiden talked about the "EDephant in the room", it was about "Alexander The Great", as Alexander The Great discovered elephants when he was doing his war campaign in India.

That's all (for now), folks.

Perfectly! They won't change the setlist for this year tour, but they may play New Song during 2025 shows. No chance the new album to be released next year, and Bruce said this in an interview. I think we'll see new opus in 2026, as usual in September.

There is a thing that Bruce has said in interviews in 2021 : that the band wanted to book another studio in 2020, but it changed its mind at the last moment, that because they have a lot of songs during the 'Senjutsu' recording sessions that they couldn't put on 'Senjutsu'. So, I'm quite sure they have some new songs ready to be recorded, but they are waiting for the right moment to go in the studio with Kevin Shirley.

Another interesting thing is that Kevin was posting on his Caveman! profile on FB some comments about the live recordings of Iron Maiden show he mixed and mastered. I'm quite sure it's his way of announcing the release of a live album from the Future Past tour.
