This album really connected with me tonight. My first listen to it was filled with disappointment, but I'll be damned if it isn't rising like hell. Bruce sounds way better in his singing than on TNOTB, and as a whole the band took a big step up from that record. Up to now, each Maiden record - besides Killers - has been better than the last. Up next is Powerslave. I can't wait.

Another great record overall, with an extremely strong first half before it starts to lose steam. No clunkers, either (though "Quest For Fire" and "To Tame A Land" flirt with it in places).

The production on this album feels a bit drier than their others from this time period, which works well on the busier tracks but probably works against the slower stuff like the opening riff of "Revelations".

I agree on the production aspect - It sounds a bit dry, thin, and mid-rangey, which lessens the impact of some of the riffs (particularly Revelations). It's not one of the strongest sounding Maiden records (even though the song writing is solid).

POM - another epochal classic for the metal genre. The sound and the drums on this album are top-notch !

Piece of Mind takes Maiden to an even bigger level, with even better songs before on a grander scale than before, and even its low points aren't terrible. It's a pretty solid if imperfect album.
