Your Maiden blasphemy

ROTAM uses the main riff from Phantom and Hallowed which was then reused in Futureal.

I suppose this is unpopular -

I've been a Maiden fan for nearly 25 years and have seen them a good 30+ times in concert. I still love those classic "overplayed" songs. It's fun as hell when the entire arena sings along to Run to the Hills, The Trooper, etc. I don't care how many times I listen to those songs they are always incredible.

Agreed.

Unpopular opinion of mine: Virtual XI is one of the best Maiden albums.

My favorite Maiden albums, in no particular order, are: BNW, AMOLAD, and Virtual XI.

Virtual XI is an amazing work. Songs like Educated Fool, Lightning Strikes Twice, angel And The Gambler, Two Worlds Collide - all amazing songs! There's certain!y an element of the progressive style that dominates the newer albums (same can be said about XFactor). The Blaze albums are crucial to the evolution of Maiden, and Virtual XI is one of the all time best.

Overall, I think Virtual XI is stronger than X Factor. But at the same time...WHOA YOU JUST SAID ANGEL AND THR GAMBLER IS AN AMAZING SONG!!!!1

:bigsurprise:

Yes he did.I don't mean to insult anyone but this is an indication that people in here are delusional, lol

Behave. I quite like that song.

Me too. I always thought it sounded like some 70's band playing an extended live version of some 5-minute song. I listen more to classic/hard rock than metal, and this amount of "repetition" is not at all unusual, especially in live versions. As long as the repeated sequence is not irritating (and it's not), it's fine.
OK, maybe the vocals melody could be more varied (like at the end of No More Lies for instance), and the buildup should be much more dynamic and playful to resemble live version, especially the drums (but that's the production deficiency I guess).
But the whole atmosphere of the song is totally positive and uplifting and I like to listen to it. More often than not, I catch myself singing along with the chorus :D
And it doesn't feel like it's 10 minutes long, it just flies by effortlessly

Honestly, it just sounds like a Steve Harris tribute to Yes. And I'm perfectly fine with that. Sometimes I find it overlong when it comes on at home, but when I am driving, it feels like the perfect driving song. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it's a perfectly fine song that probably should have been edited down for the album.

Also, I've always thought of Blaze's style of singing as dramatic and intense. This is much more easygoing and sounds quite refreshing

Only if you played it simultaneously. Janick likes to throw in a bit of variety....lives and little.....sticks one leg up on nearby object for the duration etc
