Your Maiden blasphemy

Also...on the no sexism thing. Let's not forget that Maiden had a stripper on stage during 22 Acacia Avenue on the Beast On The Road tour :p

I didn't realize there was a video from "From Here to Eternity"... nor did I dive into the lyrics deep enough to realize it was the final Charlotte the Harlot song. When I posted, I knew there were some songs with sexual themes, but it's not 80% of them like Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Warrant, etc. That percentage is an exaggeration too. Don't hold me to exactly that.

It seems like a handful out of 15+ albums at this point. That's not bad. I like the diversity of their subject matters and the emphasis on fantasy and history.

I never get bored of The Trooper. Everything about that song is just legendary in my opinion and the reunion era renditions are the best I've ever heard. Don't get me wrong I totally understand that songs like that one need to be given a break every now and then to make room for something else in the set list. But of all the "overplayed classics", The Trooper is definitely my favourite.

Definitely agree here. In fact, as I stated already, I actually am a big fan of ALL the "overplayed hit" songs and it's a total blast to see them done live with 20,000 people screaming along. But of all of these kind of songs The Trooper is the one I love the most and will never get tired of. In fact, it's my go to with new live albums to get a sense of the production, performance and sound. Love, love, love that song.

I'm the same way with Wasted Years. Just much prefer the studio version. But since it's pretty much one of the only Somewhere in Time era songs we get live I won't complain too much.

The trooper. It's one of those facets of life that make it worth living. It is such a unique song. Nothing comes close to it's pristine maideness' to me. Piece of Mind to me is the quintessential maiden album. And although I love dearly revelations, still life, flight etc., the album wouldn't be the majestic masterpiece it is without the mighty trooper.

When I first started listening to them as a kid in 87, I never realized it was supposed to be one of the most popular songs. I was hooked immediately on Revelations, Still Life, To Tame a Land and Eagles, but not to the Trooper. Same with Run to the Hills. I still only half listen to them. I admit I even yawned a little on the last concert and wished they run to the hills quicker

I'll say it again. Although Jan is playing the same solo in every song he can't actually replicate it.

Do you guys know who the girl in the From Here To Eternity video is?

Alicia Silverstone. The same girl in the two massive Aerosmith hits Cryin' and Crazy. This coupled with the fact that they hired the Smells Like Teen Spirit director to do the video for Wasting Love does make Fear of The Dark Maiden's most obvious attempt at breaking through the American rock/metal mainstream in the 90s.

Also to make an unpopular opinion. Perhaps it was this fail of gambling everything on Fear of The Dark that lead Bruce to finally call it quits and attempt his own success in the mainstream with his solo albums ;)

Ugh.... Fear of The Dark.... terrible, terrible album....
