Your Maiden blasphemy

  • I think AMOLAD is the band's third best album behind SSOASS and Powerslave.
  • I think Steve is a mediocre songwriter in general, and that Bruce and Adrian are the actual backbone of the band.
I thought AMOLAD was held highly in regard by most.

That second statement.. that's what this thread is for, absolute blasphemy.

At the time i feel it was the best move both for them and the band.
It was, but that's not all:
  • If Adrian hadn't left, we would never have got Janick,
  • If Bruce hadn't left and come back, it might never have occurred to anyone to bring Adrian back in,
  • Blaze said that he gained from working with Steve (although I still feel bad for him about being jettisoned so ignominiously) and Adrian said he gained from working with Roy Z,
  • We got (most of) Bruce's solo career, the two Psycho Motel albums and two fantastic Maiden albums with Blaze.
So everyone won, in the end :).

This is not even a blasphemy anymore. After all these years, that album is finally getting the attention it has always deserved.

I truly hope so! Not around Maiden fans that I know unfortunately. But they at least recognize that Sign of the cross is one of the best Maiden songs.

Not only they're the best in their respective eras, Killers and TXF are also better than Fear Of The Dark.

I think I'd rather listen to Killers on repeat than either TXF or FotD. Or VXI for that matter. Hell, it'd be a very enjoyable experience given most of the album is pretty good. I did actually rearrange the thing in my iTunes library since The Ides of March flows way better into Murders in the Rue Morgue followed by Another Life than fucking Wrathchild.

So, consider that my unpopular opinion: Killers has a terrible running order. I also got rid of Murders in the Rue Morgue's intro while I was making my own little edits, since that too is pointless.

It's completely inconsequential to the song as a whole and just sounds like a bit stolen from another song that never made it thrown in there because they liked it too much. It doesn't need to be there, really. Plus cutting it makes Ides of March flow really well into the song, like they did live in 2005. That's actually a great intro too, so I'm totally fine with it.
