The Future Past tour 2023

I thought they both rocked live, and I didn't get that information by watching a video but by going to a show.
I figured I'd wait until my shows to judge how it actually is. Chicago's generally a pretty receptive crowd for Maiden, but Senjutsu went over like a fart. Really depends on market still, because some of the deep cuts of the LotB 22 set got good responses in Chicago but silence in Tulsa.

Regarding the Moonchild speculation, if the 5+5 Senjutsu/SIT split holds, we're looking at either 5-6 classics and Iron Maiden is a given. Of the other four 'must plays', I don't think they're going to drop more than one. For speculation sake, let's just chuck 666, Fear and Hallowed in there and cut Trooper.

1. Iron Maiden
2. The Number of the Beast
3. Fear of the Dark
4. Hallowed Be Thy Name

So, then we've got 1-2 slots left. The band's been talking up The Prisoner and I'm still certain Wrathchild was just a tune-up song. Even then, Prisoner's not a given.

5. The Prisoner

So, say it's a full set of 16 songs. It's down to either Madness or Moonchild. Moonchild's only going to work in the opening slot or the encore opener and they've got much better options to try there in Caught Somewhere in Time and Alexander the Great (even 666 for the encore opener.) They're also not going to open the set with a song that doesn't fit into the Senjutsu/Somewhere in Time theme. I think Madness would get the nod as the set needs a second short song besides DoFP to space between the epics. Stratego could still serve in that roll though.

6. Can I Play with Madness

Something tells me that this tour could even be even shorter, maybe 14 songs with the amount of epics packed in. Look at Book of Souls that got cut back to 15 songs with Red and the Black. We’re looking at two songs that exceed the ten minute mark, plus several eight minute tracks. I’d love to be wrong and they push the shorties enough to take it up ti 16, but something tells me this could be a 14 song set that’s absolutely packed!

my biggest concern is the guitar tone on SIT songs. I have heard various bands play SIT songs well but without that GK guitar tone, they sound awful and have yet to see anyone other than 1 guy in Ireland get close to replicating that sound. I hope they have found a way as most of those songs wouldn't work well with other equipment.

SIT:
Wasted Years
Stranger in a Strange Land
ATG
Heaven Can Wait
CSIT ( I hope)
Senjutsu:
TWOTW
DOFP
Hell On Earth
DOTC or Parchment
Stratego? or Time Machine
Duration: from 1h10mins to 1h15mins

So they have 30 mins for other tracks at most.

No way we get only 14 songs, it’s gonna be 16 100%.

Long epics:
Death of the Celts
Hell on Earth
Alexander the Great

Semi-long songs:
The Writing on the Wall
Stranger in a Strange Land
Heaven Can Wait
2 Minutes to Midnight
Wasted Years
Fear of the Dark
Hallowed Be Thy Name

Shorter songs:
Days of Future Past
Stratego
Iron Maiden
Can I Play With Madness
The Trooper
Wrathchild

Whatever they do and whatever they play I'm confident it will be a great show. Yes, they may not play a song or two you were hoping for. Or a song you think is overplayed. Just relax and enjoy it. Face it, folks. There's not a whole lot of tours left after this.

There will come a day when we all wish we could hear Wrathchild, Trooper, NOTB, IM and the like once more live.

Up the Irons forever! :edmetal:

Complaining about the wrong amps being used... we're approaching new levels of geekery

have you heard tribute bands play those songs with other systems? It is awful lol... I figure Maiden have found a work around as Steve wouldn't want to play something he thinks sounds awful. Yes I am a geek to that degree with my music. I love music and the guitar tone from that album IMO is what made it number one for me. Had they used the same system from Powerslave, that would likely be my number 1 album instead of SIT.

I see we’re past the complaining about the setlist phase and full steam ahead on complaining that they didn’t play the songs right phase.

Aussie fan just dropping in to say “yup, that’s called every day since May 1st, 2020, when they cancelled LotB Down Under”.
Unfortunately beyond their control. I really do feel for the Australia/NZ fans. Hopefully in 2024 they will make it down there.

I normally don't have the luxury of traveling just for concerts, TBOS tour being an exception. I went through a rough patch where it was 16 years between Maiden shows and 20 years with Bruce in the band.

It's awful because only Maiden can sound like Maiden!

The answer is to see the show in Montreal, where every song goes over well.
