Great reviews The Mid-Distance Runner, thanks for that!

A question:

What does the backdrop for When the Wild Wind Blows look like? You said it didn't have an Eddie on it
I posted a link of a video and you can see it.

I might give them a try then. Lately I've been giving Metalcore a shot.

That whole line up seemed pretty epic.

Also, I listened to a little bit of Devil Driver. Not that bad.

Wow! They were just fucking amazing! I have to go soon but I'll post up a quick review.
They played the expected setlist. It was so amazing to see the guys finally! Bruce live is just incredible. They started off with Sat 15 over the speakers just as night had fallen, the screen on the side showed a video clip. When TFF started it was one of the most incredible moments of my life! Just amazing. They delivered the song perfectly, it really does great live and as an opener. El Dorado was also an unexpected highlight. Bruce sang the chorus incredibly, even the song isn't one of my faves off the album I found that they did it spectacularly live. Next up was 2 Minutes. The crowd didn't seem to know the newer songs, but really joined in on this one. This is when I really felt the Maiden live experience. I know a lot of you don't like seeing the same songs on tours, but as this was the first time I found it fantastic. The sound of all the crowd singing along to the chorus is quite something.
Next up was The Talisman, and I have to say this was my second favourite song of the night, after Fear of the Dark. The acoustic intro sounded so evil, Bruce set the mood incredibly well. You just have to see it to see what I mean. His voice throughout the song was amazing, and the guitarists really looked like they enjoyed the song. I really hope this stays on in tours to come!!!
After that came Coming Home I think. The chorus was amazing, but not a lot of the crowd seemed to know the song too well.
Next was Dance of Death. I really loved the slow build up of the song, and it turned out good live.
Next up was The Trooper! Another highlight of the set for me. Just seeing H, Dave and Janick fire up the axes and hear the intro coming out was amazing. The crowd sung along to this one a lot, making it very fun.
After that was The Wicker Man, one that I thought was going to be one of my favourite songs of the set, and they didn't disappoint. The crowd sang along to the chorus of this one too :)
After that came Blood Brothers, this would also make it into my top 5 songs of the night. They dedicated it to the NZ earthquake victims and managed to convey such emotion live, its incredible. Then WTWWB came on, my fave from the new album. I think it works reasonably well live, but not as well as say, The Talisman or TFF, and I doubt it will survive on future tours. Then came The Evil That Men Do. This has never been one of my fave songs, but I found it great to listen to live.
Then came Fear of the Dark, my favourite of the night. I don't think I could ever get tired of this, no matter how many times I saw Maiden. Just the sound of everyone going "ooooooo" to the tune, the occasional lighters flicked up in the crowd, and the eerie lights made it an unforgettable experience. The chorus of course everyone knew.
Then was Iron Maiden. Im not a huge fan of this song, but I see now it works quite well live.
Then was the encore, and the robotic Eddie came out onto stage, and the screen showed a video out of a camera from eddies mouth looking down as he walked past Steve and Janick. TNOTB was just incredible! After that came Hallowed, and I'm sure all of you who have been to Maiden shows understand the spectacle. The way Bruce sang the last verse of Hallowed, especially the last line, sent a shiver down my spine. Then came Running Free, a fun singalong, and that was it.

I got a good view, not sure how to estimate how far out I was but I could see everyone clearly, make out their faces and stuff, it was great for me to be so close to them. I love Bruce's actions on stage, how he runs around jumping and stuff, you can really tell hes having fun :D I'm sure I'll never forget that night! :)

However, everything can't go right: My sister texted me early in the day that Slayer had pulled out due to Arraya's ill health, but it turned out that he felt better later and decided to play. But I thought they weren't playing, so I missed them! :( I was just walking past and heard the last 10 seconds of Angel of Death, but I didn't see the band or hear anything substantial :(

Slash was also amazing, the highlights were definitely the GNR songs, Nightrain, Sweet Child, and Paradise City. My friend was lucky enough to get Slash's pick as he threw it off stage at the end! :)

Sisters are the worst!

Have a Praise, Jeff!

when did they get a big Eddie? Did they keep the walk on?

No prob, mate. :ok:

I swear I didn't know there was the big one, I came to know it through this link I posted. It was his debut, in São Paulo, a friend who attended the gig just told me, so, nobody knew, I guess. The walking Eddie came on TETMD.

and here is eddie

Hey, mate. I didn't attend the gig, but despite the predictability,...
...people said that the new songs totally destroy live, specially El Dorado, The Talisman and When The Wild Wind Blows.

They do. Especially Talisman.

Coming Home was a bit disappointing imo

Nice to see that they didn't repeat the same mistake like on Flight 666, i.e. not bringing along the giant Eddie to be filmed.

I thought he didn't fit in the plane. Maybe they had a separate plane, or the Eddie was already out there.
