TBOS Tour Predictions

The biggest thing on that song is the D - tuned bass. You can do this song with 1 or 2 standard tuned guitars, but you can't do it with standard tuned bass, because it looses a lot of the fatness. My prediction: Dave will be tuned standard or use the Flying V, Adrian has his D guitars, Steve has his signature with Fender now so that shouldn't be a problem, he has enough basses, and Jan always changes guitars after the first song anyway.

It's a 747!

It is indeed, but I got the impression that they are going to fit everything in there this time. Bruce said they wouldn't actually be able to carry more gear than the rebuilt 757 did. I may be mistaken, but I believe they had trucks + the plane when they toured with the 757. Even on a 747, everything should matter. Three flight cases is a hell of a lot to carry around the globe if you could do without them.

On En Vivo (757) Dave had 3 guitars (Sunburst and Cream strats and the 60's Les Paul Classic), Adrian had at least 7 (Goldtop, SG, 80's Jackson and a signature Jackson backup, 2 drop D Jacksons and a warm-up guitar) , Janick had 5 and one acoustic (Black, white and 2 Cream strats, Sunburst Sandberg and Chet Atkins acousti) and Harry had at least 3 basses (Main, Blue crackled finish and blue signature)... So that shouldn't be a problem.

No. We're enforcing the spoilers rule strictly right now. If a member of the band, or its management, indicates they might play a particular song, or indicates they are not going to play a particular song, that requires spoiler tags. A prediction would be guesswork alone. We'll consider introducing 'spoilers contained' and 'spoiler free' threads for the tour after dates are announced.

Well my problem with that rule is that this is clearly the Tour Prediction Page. Why would ANYBODY click on this page if they don't want to be spoiled?! Oh well, I'll be a good yank and follow the rules... for now. ;)

BTW guys, I have a strong feeling that "Death or Glory" has a better chance of being played live than "Tears of a Clown". ToaC is a great song, I just think DoG will do better live. That song kicks major ass (even with the monkey line). ;)

BTW, I did a new prediction while I was at work after listening to Book of Souls on my way there. Let me know what you all think?

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. Wrathchild
4. The Red and the Black
5. Coming Home
6. The Trooper
7. Brave New World
8. Death or Glory
9. Powerslave
10. The Book of Souls
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
----------------
14. The Number of the Beast
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Sanctuary

Damn! The more I think about it, the harder and harder it gets. I can see sooo many possibilities on this upcoming tour. I don't think they'll play any SSoaSS songs on this tour since they had a WHOLE three years of touring dedicated to that album. I'd love for them to play something from BNW, so that's why I choose the title track off that since they played "The Wicker Man" and "Blood Brothers" on the Final Frontier Tour. However, I can also see them deciding to play something off of Dance of Death or A Matter of Life and Death. One song I'd love for them to revisit is "Out of the Shadows". It's such a good slow song and I think it would fit nicely. However I know the chance of that being played is slim so I left it out. Bottom line... we won't have a good grasp until the tour actually happens. It's like trying to predict the last tour cycles; some of the songs were very easy to predict, but then they pulled some surprises like "Afraid to Shoot Strangers" and even dropped some from the set.

I don't care that much about the setlist, because to me anything they choose to play will be amazing, since this will be my first maiden concert. But there's some songs that I wouldn't miss that much if they don't play it, like RTTH, TNOTB, Wrathchild...

I know it's a bit unrealistic, but if they play anything from AMOLAD, I would be more than happy!

My predictions (not particulary in this order):
I know Bruce said 4-5 new songs, but I'm betting it will be six

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. 2 Minutes To Midnight
4. Ghost of The Navigator
5. The Trooper
6. The Book of Souls
7. Lord of Light (Let me dream a bit... Although I know powerslave would be a more realistic bet.)
8. Dance of Death or something from TFF
9. Death or Glory
10. The Red and The Black
11.Tears of a Clown
12. Fear of The Dark
13. Iron Maiden
---------------------------
14. The Number of the Beast
15. Hallowed By Thy Name
16. Sanctuary

Got Kerrang today....

Bruce commented, while listening to Death of Glory, that he can't wait to do it live. Make of that what you will! He went on to talk about his cancer treatment, and possible long-term effects on his voice.

Did he say anything knew about it? Or just what we already know? I can't help being a bit worried... I hope he and his voice gets back to full form.

Well, without wishing to be overly pessimistic, I have to say the article made me a little concerned. He can certainly still sing, and he said he had a bash at Trooper at home recently. But he said something about how he might need to do things differently. That makes me wonder how much his voice has changed and if he's going to have to make changes to vocal technique. I didn't hear anything wrong with his speaking voice on the Paris trip, to be fair, although people have said he sounded different in interviews.

Adrian may provide more backing vocals than usual to support Bruce and of course Bruce may throw the vocals over to the crowd more frequently.

6 songs off The Book Of Souls would be great [although the full album would be superb]. Plus any material from AMOLAD and Somewhere In Time and I will be a happy man.

But considering Bruce's battle this year I'll be pleased with whatever they play, and if they have to cancel so be it.

Let's hope that they keep Harry away from the microphone live. :ninja:

(although he got better on ME tour, The Prisoner BV's were pleasant surprise)

After watching and listening all the interviews he has done recently, I didn't notice much difference in his speaking voice. I'm just worried about the singing, I hope that everything will be fine with his voice next year, even if he does some changes...

New predictions. Had to add something from AMOLAD. I know a lot of you want that so I thought why the hell not.

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. Wrathchild
4. These Colors Don't Run
5. Coming Home
6. The Trooper
7. Death or Glory
8. Blood Brothers
9. Tears of a Clown
10. The Book of Souls
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
---------------------
14. The Number of the Beast
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Sanctuary

I put Tears of A Clown on this one just because I'm thinking there might be a chance they decide not to play TRatB. Plus it's kind of a shame to think that only ONE song from Disc 2 might be played. Plus this setlist I was thinking of what sons might be the most generous towards Bruce's post cancer voice. You all agree?

How long does this go for? It seems like there's room for another song.

I'd say it's fairly realistic, even if it's not the one I'd personally go for.

He was quite noticeably having difficulty fully articulating some words when he first started speaking in public again. I'm quite surprised people can't hear that. Haven't listened to anything really really recently, maybe that's not so noticeable now. I think he'll have noticed this too, but clearly he (& the band & doctors etc) are pretty confident this isn't a big issue. I assume his vocal chords were unaffected; this would have been the most important issue in terms of his ability to sing.

I've noticed it. I've also noticed that it has gotten SO much better since those first clips of him back in May/June. It seems as though getting vowel sounds right and combating dryness will be the only issues; thankfully both of these are treatable with vocal rehab and healing time, respectively.

Anyone else noticed some strangeness in his pronunciation of "r" and vowel sounds in the intro of Man of Sorrows? ("Free the captives from their chains" etc.)

I'm wondering if this was recorded late in the game, when his tumors were likely at their largest, and may have been affecting the use of his tongue...

Definitely. Listening to the Jericho interview right now; his articulation etc is fine, really improved. Just meant, some people didn't seem to notice it that much at first. I thought it was really obvious until quite recently.

Maybe, maybe. I did notice that.

I agree. At that Campus Party talk he did back in... July? his voice was quite tired and "cracked" sounding. The fact that in a couple months he's gotten this much better bodes very well for a full recovery next year :)

Indeed. I think on the Jericho interview he sounds absolutely fine. His voice generally is a lot deeper & gruffer than I recall. But I've always thought Bruce sounds a little over animated in interviews sometimes. Sort of like his public speaky voice, if you know what I mean. In a lot of recent interviews I think he sounds really natural & how I'd imagine him if you just stood & talked to him i.e. how he's actually always sounded. His voice generally has obviously changed over the last ten years or so, but post-cancer, right now, I think it sounds pretty back to normal. Recovery sounds very nearly complete. We'll soon find out when he stars singing again though...

I disagree somewhat with him sounding better and better. Heard this interview? More recent.
Still a marked improvement over Campus Party/Nordoff Robbins awards in July... and he's still got just shy of six months until the tour takes off.

I think he's going to sound different, of course, but no question he's going to be just fine hitting all the notes he needs.

Sorry, didn't read your post Foro before posting mine. Yeh, you can certainly still hear it (& see it) in that interview. It's like his lips or something. It doesn't have anything to do with his actual voice; & it's also not in the least surprising. Still, it's quite noticeable. As Lego says though, I still think his singing will be fine. I have to admit, I do still wonder about quick (already challenging) vocal passages like in Hallowed though. There's the potential that songs like this might be a problem if he were to try them right now. But plenty of time.

1. Speed Of Light
