TBOS Tour Predictions

I think the only two songs that must ALWAYS appear on the setlist are Iron Maiden and The Number of the Beast. I think fans would riot if those were not played.
I was thinking about Powerslave and how that could work with the Mayan theme of TBoS. Maybe they could include that. Would anybody want to see When the River Run Deep live?

Has NOTB been played everytime? I could've sworn it was dropped once. Powerslave would be great, I could totally see them doing that.

I could do without WTRRD. Not that it's a bad song, I just don't need to see it live. In fact, I thought it was kinda disappointing that they wouldn't play the whole album before I heard it, now that I have there are a few songs that I don't think would work very well. WTRRD, Death or Glory, Shadows of the Valley are good songs but I don't think we'd be missing much if they didn't get played. I even feel this way about Man of Sorrows to a degree, even though it's one of my early favorites.

As long as they play IESF, TRATB, and Tears I'll be happy. Hopefully the title track too.

They HAVE to play the Title Track! I don't they've ever not played the title track when touring... have they?

Anyway, I reworked some songs around and changed some stuff. Let me know what you all think of my new prediction...

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. Wrathchild
4. Brave New World
5. The Trooper
6. Death or Glory
7. Powerslave
8. The Book of Souls
9. El Dorado
10. Empire of the Clouds
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
----------------
14. The Number of the Beast
15. Hallowed By Thy Name
16. Sanctuary

I'm sticking by my decision that EotC will be played live... eventually. If not, then I'd like to hear "When the River Runs Deep", "The Red and the Black", or "Shadows of the Valley" (which would be an awesome live song)!!!

I believe it was dropped in 2006.

I feel the same way about those four that should be played, they are among the most likely to be played. Shadows would work well though, I just don't think they'll play it.

It's good, Powerslave is not a bad guess, I think they'll bring it back at some point. Sorry but no Empire, it's not gonna happen as cool as it would be to hear it though. Replace Empire with TRATB and throw in TOAC and it's pretty realistic. This is just my opinion, as well as Death or Glory would work, I don't think it will be played, it's just The Alchemist 2.0 with cheesy lyrics.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maiden decides to play 50 minutes to an hour's worth of new stuff. I think SOTV and WTRRD are possibilities. WTRRD would give Bruce a rest on his vocals, but so would the instrumental section of TRATB.

Of course hindsight is 20/20, but I'd say the last two albums and DoD were pretty obvious with which songs would be played live and which wouldn't. I definitely remember listening to TFF for the first few times and not expecting the three epics that didn't get played to be played. Same with the Alchemist. I did expect Mother of Mercy though. On Dance of Death, I can't imagine them ever playing a song like Face in the Sand or Gates of Tomorrow. They just don't seem like live songs to me. Funnily enough, there are some songs from BNW that got played live which I would never expect. Namely OOTSP and The Mercenary.

As far as this album goes, to me those songs are definitely WTRRD, Shadows, The Great Unknown and Man of Sorrows. Which is too bad, I especially like those last two.

Well I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for Empire of the Clouds. Like I said, it's a song that's getting praise from both fans and critics so I know they'll put that into consideration due to the hype. But we'll have to see.

Does anybody have a reference for when Bruce "said" that he doesn't the band would ever do the song live? Was it a magazine? A video interview? What?

Don't forget your spoiler tags! :p

I'm sure they'll at least rehearse Empire. It's probably a definite no, but I think they'll rehearse it anyway. I imagine Bruce saying it wouldn't work live, Steve insisting they rehearse it anyway and Bruce isn't pleased with the result so they don't do it.

Okay, I have to say something... these are not "spoilers" these are predictions, theories, and what not. For example...

A prediction:
You know what guys, I think Darth Vader is gonna turn out to be Luke's father! Wouldn't that be cool?

Wow! Darth Vader WAS Luke's father! Holy shit!

Now... if the tour actually was going on right now and not five months away... then they would be a spoiler. But right now, it's all a bunch of predictions like the title of the thread states.

You're referencing something Bruce said though, that's a spoiler.

The band saying what songs they will, won't, or maybe do on an upcoming tour is considered to be spoilers.
And Bruce did say in an interview that EOTC probably won't get played and like Mosh said, that's definitely a spoiler.

No. We're enforcing the spoilers rule strictly right now. If a member of the band, or its management, indicates they might play a particular song, or indicates they are not going to play a particular song, that requires spoiler tags. A prediction would be guesswork alone. We'll consider introducing 'spoilers contained' and 'spoiler free' threads for the tour after dates are announced.

Absolutely not. Good riddance may sound a bit harsh, but it's certainly a welcome to other songs. I wouldn't feel angry about it.

If Eternity Should Fail
Speed Of Light
The Red And The Black
The Book Of Souls
Tears Of A Clown
100%

and chances for:
Death Or Glory
Empire Of The Clouds

I mean, it would be stupid to make TRATB Whoooohooo through whole song if you don't play it live.

Yeah, I'd like to see Iron Maiden dropped for the next few tours too. Dropping Running Free last time had a good reaction so i hope that doesn't come back just yet either.

Iron Maiden is not really about the song anymore it's an event. If that doesn't take place it's not a real Maiden show, IMO. And I'm not exactly fond of that song either but it has to be there.

Not musically inclined myself, but is there any limitations to playing If Eternity Should Fail if it's in a different tuning?

Technically it's no big deal to tune the one string up on stage, but I guess they would like to the have separate guitars properly set up for the two tunings. When I heard about the drop D situation, I immediately imagined that it's going to look a bit awkward when they'll all change guitars at the same time after the first song :P The IESF outro comes in handy.
