TBOS Tour Predictions

Done with 80s influenced tours? Are you serious?? Look nobody loves 2000+ maiden more than I do. But the band knows the 80s material has to be played as well. And "Colin" the classics fan knows every damn song on Pom. All of them, every song on the album. The one good point you make is that nob would be as good or better a choice for full album play. It matters not when the last time certain songs were played.. By the way.
Rush played all of moving pictures. Priest played all of British steel. It could happen, and it would be excellent. Spewing facts about what hasn't been played is entirely irrelevant to this hypothesis. Chill.
Classics fan?? I prefer the reunion stuff to be honest.

I haven't read it yet, but apparently in the new Kerrange Bruce says he can't wait to play
Death or Glory
live!

So, worst case scenario, we'll get something like...
If Eternity Should Fail
Speed of Light
Death or Glory
And I'd put my money on either TRATB or BOS... hopefully both.
Probably TOAC as well, Bruce has said it's his favorite on the record.

Now Mr. Dickinson, please stop with this "3 or 4" new songs nonsense! :p

If that was the case, then they would've played on the Maiden England tour. They clearly thought high enough of ATSS replace Infinite Dreams with it. Stranger in a Strange Land would've fit perfectly in the setlist at some point.

I agree with Bring Your Daughter, that would be really cool to hear that song, I'd doubt it on this tour though.
Well, I would have never guessed in a million years that ATSS would have replaced Hallowed on the Maiden England tour so anything is possible with this band.

DOG would be so sweet!

I'll look for Kerrang in the shop tomorrow. I should buy it really, but we'll see.

I already thought Death or Glory would make sense live. I can see them coming out to that for the encore. I agree, Eternity (hope so!) and Speed of Light are realistic guesses. As for at least on another, I can easily imagine them making a setlist centrepiece of one of longer songs. Ideally Book of Souls for me, although I thought Red and the Black as soon as I heard it.

Well I don't think it replaced Hallowed, I think it replaced Infinite Dreams. It's a safe guess that if they were going to play Infinite Dreams, then it would have been right there in the set. I think Hallowed's replacement was Aces High. They're both pretty difficult songs to sing.

Either way, it was still very unexpected considering what type of tour it was.

Like previous Reunion Era Tours, I believe this one will have a lot of more modern Maiden hits mixed in with some classics. I'm predicting they'll revisit "Heaven Can Wait", a good nod to Bruce Dickinson kicking cancer in the ass!

Anyway, here is my prediction for the setlist...
1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight
4. Coming Home
5. The Trooper
6. Brave New World
7. Death or Glory
8. The Book of Souls
9. Flight of Icarus
10. Empire of the Clouds
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
----------------
14. The Number of the Beast
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Sanctuary

I think it's a good combo of old and new. I decided to go with "Flight of Icarus" in the middle because it's a good quick upbeat song right before the long tragic epic. Plus the subject matter kinda mirrors that of the song that follows it, somewhat a "foreshadowing" as to what comes next. I know the chance of that getting played are VERY slim, but who knows, they might surprise. Hell, they've been giving us more obscure ones lately, so why not? I don't think of any of us would complain.

I have a big feeling they'll go with IESF, SoL, DoG, TBoS, and EotC for their songs on the tour. I feel like the band has praised those ones more in interviews than any other. DoG is a good fast song. However, If they decided to go with TRatB, WtRRD, or ToaC, I wouldn't mind. I like all of them.

What do you all think?

Realistic set apart from no. 9 and 10. And probably no. 3 will be retired for a while.

Thanks... for the most part. Like I said I know 9. is a LONG SHOT. But I seriously doubt they're not gonna play 3. and 20. Why?
Well 3. is a staple! I think people would riot over that one not being on the setlist than something like The Trooper or Hallowed Be Thy Name. And as for 10. Sorry but it's gonna be played. It's a song that is getting universal praise. People are already calling it a masterpiece. Is it long? Yes! But who cares! If the band loves it, they'll do it.

If H has any power of deciding the set no. 3 won't be played. 10 will only be played if they take guest musicians on the road and Steve puts Bruce on some kind of torture device to convince him to play it (as far as I know only Bruce said that they won't play it but he said it almost definately).

I'm sure the band is probably tired of playing No. 3. I put it on there because Adrian once said "you know you're gonna have to play songs like "2 Minutes to Midnight" and "Fear of the Dark" and "Iron Maiden"... You know those will be there." And I know there have been times other staples like Trooper and Run to the Hills have been axed so I like to think they enjoy playing No. 3 more than those.

As for No. 10, Personally I think it would be a tragedy if they didn't play it live (I'm sure all you non-spoiler people know what song I'm talking about). Personally I love the song and think it should be played, after all several critics, like I said above, have been calling it things like "a masterpiece" and "Bruce's Opus" and "Maiden does Les Miserables"... stuff like that. I can see them NOT doing it, but I just don't think they would skip it. There's a lot of hype surrounding this song. They don't have to have other musicians come in to play things like pianos and cellos. They can just play the audio. A lot of bands do that. Or at least for the sting instruments near the beginning. But who knows? There is still 5 months until the tour so maybe they'll get Bruce to play the damn piano! hahaha

Thoughts on this:

2 Minutes is less likely because I think one of the members said they were sick of it; plus switching up classics.

As for Empire, I'd do unspeakable things to see it happen but I see two problems. The first is that it is a monumental song and would be a lot of work to pull off; Bruce has already said he doesn't think they'll do it. Secondly is that it doesn't strike me as a song that would want audience participation; it would be an odd dynamic to say the least.

Rough setlist prediction (not in order):

01 - If Eternity Should Fail
02 - Speed Of Light
03 - The Book Of Souls
04 - Death Or Glory

These four feel pretty much universally agreed upon.

05 - Shadows Of The Valley

I feel like this is more likely than people think. Has the energy and choruses to go down well live, and imagine the "into the valley of death" part live and tell me you're not excited.

06 - Tears Of A Clown

If another song gets played i'd be surprised if it isn't this. Of the other songs TRATB feels most likely. Empire would be great but I wouldn't bet on it, WTRRD could work but TGU and MOS are the two I would wager won't appear as I don't think they're live songs at all.

07 - Coming Home / Reincarnation of Benjamin Breed

I expect we'll get something from TFF or AMOLAD at least, and these two seem most likely. Would prefer the first.

08 - No More Lies / Paschendale

I think a Dance of Death song could well pop up but not more than one. Would prefer the latter.

09 - The Wicker Man / Ghost Of The Navigator

Again, I expect a BNW song, but not more than one.

10 - Fear Of The Dark

Obvious live song.

11 - Wasted Years

I think this could come up with or without SOTV. If SOTV is in it could troll people into expecting this song and then actually play it after. If not then there's no worries about overlap anyway.

12 - Heaven Can Wait

Popular live and appropriate given the recent cancer as said above; I like the idea.

13 - Powerslave

I think this is the most likely PS song as it fits in comparatively well with the Mayan theme and is popular. I think Aces High could see the axe for Hallowed's return and to give it a break with DOG being some kind of substitute.

14 - The Trooper

Safe choice for a popular classic; I see it as most likely POM choice.

15 - Hallowed Be Thy Name

Isn't this pretty much confirmed to return?

That leaves 16/17 as potential Paul/Blaze era songs though my experience with those is limited to say the least so I'm not going to guess any specifics.

1/6 TBOS songs could be axed or switched (if you are a TRATB man just replace SOTV with this, both are great songs) but I'd be surprised to see less than 5.

Personal (semi realistic) Wishlist:

01 - If Eternity Should Fail
02 - Speed Of Light
03 - Heaven Can Wait
04 - The Trooper
05 - Coming Home
06 - The Wicker Man
07 - Powerslave
08 - The Book Of Souls
09 - Wrathchild (again, seems a popular pick)
10 - Death Or Glory
11 - Paschendale
12 - Shadows Of The Valley
13 - Wasted Years
14 - Fear Of The Dark

15 - Sanctuary (seems to be most popular song of that era for encore)
16 - Number Of The Beast
17 - Hallowed Be Thy Name

Maiden England made me think that the setlists are a little less formulaic than I had given them credit for. There's definitely a formula there for sure, but I think ME proved it wasn't set in stone. Excluding Hallowed proved that they didn't have a rule that it always had to be in the set. While I doubt Still Life will ever be played again, there's honestly no way of telling for sure at this point.

In fact, I'd even bet that Maiden doesn't have a rule about a song not being played if it wasn't played on the original album tour and that its just a really big coincidence. I imagine they've at least rehearsed really deep cuts and just decided they were too obscure or just didn't have the appropriate energy for a live set. I think I even remember them saying they rehearsed Alex once. But I think they'll do a never before played live song eventually. Maybe on this tour.
