TBOS Tour Predictions

Yeah good point actually, you're right, I think one of the band members (I don't remember which) said they don't use it every time so that they don't just become known as 'that heavy metal band that uses lots of pyro' or something to that effect.

I think its a shame because it really adds a lot to the show from a visual perspective. I hope they use some on this tour because I can imagine it complementing the inevitable Mayan set design well, especially given that history tours seem to be, well, history after Maiden England.

"Have another piece" world tour 2017/2018. Featuring piece of mind in it's entirety. And a heap of other classics. Imagine the eddie.
There will be more.

Nice name! Well, a setlist centered around POM (although the 2005 tour offered the opportunity to hear "Where Eagles Dare" again already), why not? But there's no way they will ever play "Quest for Fire" and "Sun and Steel".

7. The Red and the Black / Shadows of the Valley

This is something I vaguely recall seeing more than once (your post was the first one I found mentioning it though) and would like to discuss, mostly because it is almost always mentioned solely as a TRATB or SOTV whereas I feel it should be TRATB or SOTV and another song they can fit in with the saved time.

There's this and I'm not sure I think TRATB is even that likely given they'll probably already be playing TBOS as a 10+ min song from the album. I don't mind if it does as I like it a lot, but I almost feel SOTV is more likely especially if they do it as a troll to make people think they're doing Wasted Years, and then play Wasted Years after.

Either way my expectations are the following:

1) IESF
2) SOL
3) TRATB/SOTV+extra
4) TBOS
5) DOG
6) TOAC

Would love to see EOTC. Ah well...

I would like to share your optimism but I think it would go (in rehearsals) along the lines of:
"Well, there's Em - D - C - Em and then another rhythm change..."
"Do you mean like the part before?"
"Well, no...Er...Oh, fuck it, let's do "Wrathchild"! "

@DJMayes
You bring up a good point, however I had trouble finding a spot for SOTV in the set, I think it would work well live, but there's really nowhere it could fit. If they played it, I think TRATB would be dropped.

I may just make another setlist, I'm finding a lot of faults with that last one anyways.

Why would they go back AGAIN and do another Early Days tour? Piece of Mind was covered on that tour and at the same time it was also advertised as being the last time many of these songs would ever be played.

I know I'm probably making to many setlists, but my last one could have had more thought put into it. Bruce also said a little bit more about the tour. So here's a slightly more realistic set.

Bruce said they would retire Number of the Beast or Run to the Hills, and bring back a few songs they hadn't played in forever. In my set those would be the two in the encore as it's the 30th anniversary of Somewhere in Time
1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. Two Minutes to Midnight
4. The Red and the Black
5. These Colours Don't Run <--- This spot could be any reunion song, I just chose this from AMOLAD because that album hasn't gotten very much play.
6. The Trooper
7. Dance of Death or The Talisman
8. Number of the Beast
9. The Book of Souls
10. Tears of a Clown
11. Hallowed Be Thy Name
12. Fear of the Dark
13. Iron Maiden
--- Blade Runner
14. Caught Somewhere in Time
15. Wasted Years
16. Running Free/Sanctuary

It's definitely a bit more realistic. The only part I would question is the encore. I'm still banking on the 30th anniversary idea. Wrathchild could possibly be in the set somewhere, I considered placing it at #3, but then TRATB has a very similar tempo. I'm doubting anything from SSOASS, they just spent 3 years playing it, those songs deserve a break. I've been thinking that Die With Your Boots On could be in the set somewhere too, as that's a classic that hasn't been played in over 10 years, I've also been thinking possibly Children of the Damned. I could probably go on all day about what songs they won't play and what not. I think from the new album though, those could definitely work. TRATB is iffy, but I could see it working well live.

edit: That set's total runtime would be about 105 minutes.

They will never play no. 14 because they stated numerous times that this song never works live. Also H stated he wants to retire no. 3 for a tour or two beacuse it was played to death recently. There is also a strong possibility for some of the rarely played songs from Killers to make an appearance since Bruce stated that 3 of those tracks were among his favourites (Wratchild isn't one of them).

@SixesAlltheway I don't see any problem with another classic tour. Especially after an album tour that will possibly be new songs/ reunion songs heavy. I say why not? They draw huge and playing a fan favorite like Pom in it's entirety is new and will go over like free beer.
I love the idea myself and would go to multiple shows.

If they wanted to play all of PoM then they would have done it already. To Tame a Land hasn't been played since 83, Icarus hasn't been played since 86, and Still Life hasn't been played since 88. And they still haven't touched Sun and Steel or Quest For Fire. Still Lifes best chance was on the Maiden England tour, and it will never see the the stage again, nor will Icarus or TTAL. If you wanna hear songs from PoM, you better get used to The Trooper. Besides if they were gonna do any album in it's entirety then it would be NOTB, not PoM. The average "classics" fan hasn't even heard of Still Life or To Tame a Land.

I hope that they will appreciate SIT's 35 anniversary next year and play something from it. CSIT, Deja Vu and ATG will surely not be played. H stated that they won't play SIASL again so that is a no almost for sure. That leaves us with SOM, LOTLDR which seem unlikely and the standards Wasted Years and HCW.
