Simon Dawson is the new drummer

I think folks are reading too much into the statement re 2025. My take is that nothing has changed re Maiden taking things one step at a time at this stage of their career. They're all getting up in age, fans have been speculating for literally years if this tour or that album will be the final one...my take is that the next tour is booked for '25/26 and then they'll see what's what. They may secretly record another album between now and next Spring and put it in the can as they did with "Senjutsu," who knows..?

I have no inside intel but my guess is that aside from Steve playing with Dawson in BL that he and the rest of the band have gotten in some time together as well for at least long enough to feel comfortable that it's a good fit. This has obviously been in the works for awhile and was not some sudden unforeseen event.

Regarding Simon Dawson playing style. I am not an expert, but to me - purely visual - his playing style looks heavy and exhausting? too physical if it makes sense. Akin to Lars Ulrich. The guy from the post above, Chris DeChiara, is much lighter, easy in his approach, similar to Nicko, if you know what I mean. Am i right on track here or completely wrong?
Drumming experts, can explain in more detail.

Fan club president 1997 - 2019 i think? Brother in law to Steve.
He was married to Linda Harris, Steve's sister.

Seems like they have had a massive falling out. It's probably why he was replaced by Alexander Milas as the head of the fanclub.
