That was a part of it. I'd argue that having a ruthless manager played even bigger part in that. And typical Harris has got Maiden from the pubs of the East end of London to being one of the biggest bands on the planet.

The more this angry daddy posts, this whole situation is becoming more cringe.
Anyways, this is why I think they should've gone with a big name.
If they have gotten Simon Phillips for example, if Steve Lazarus started barking on social media that his son deserves the seat more than Simon fucking Phillips, someone would order and ambulance to Lazarus' house and take him straight to the psych ward.
The thing is that Simon Dawson's pedigree as a drummer isn't even close to being big enough to completely shut all of this down. The problem is that the first gig is 6 months away and there will be a lot of talk until then, when Simon will have the chance to prove himself.Maybe that is being handled somehow, maybe someone will get that idiot quiet soon.
Steve doesn't seem like the sort of person to let a misguided Facebook post inform any band decisions.
He's still going. View attachment 40344
But what was the actual reason of having a standby drummer available during those two tours?Ok, he has lost it and it seems that he has forgot that his own son had other commitments during TFP, so they put Simon on retainer and took BL to tour alongside Maiden.
Lazarus jr. was on a retainer during TBOS and LOTB, but NOT The Future Past.
Insurance costs. At the point of TBOS, Nicko was the only member that was near/over retirement age of 65.But what was the actual reason of having a standby drummer available during those two tours?
I was team Joe before all this drama, but now Simon seems like the least dramatic alternative. He fits in age and mentality wise.I think Steve Lazarus and his son feel betrayed. It's normal, I think many of the who were crew members feel betrayed or not good enough treated, by Steve or Rod…
Because it's Nicko. Even when Bruce left he was phoning it in and Maiden was making videos with an effin' magician (what?). Plus, The X Factor ended up being a decent record. Nicko, on the other hand, more or less made Maiden's sound.I don’t get why anyone has an issue with this selection. The band has always picked replacements that are at arms length.
They dont understand that most probably Steve doesnt want someone who can „replicate” Nicko.
Simon, is that you?I was team Joe before all this drama, but now Simon seems like the least dramatic alternative. He fits in age and mentality wise.

I guess both in fact. Hardly any coincidence like this in Maiden’s artwork these daysThat's 50 and yes could be SD also.
Yup, Rod has mellowed out over time. It's something that you can assume indeed is likely, but that no one from the band's environment should be posting and confirming on social media.
Apparently Rod is no longer that ruthless manager, otherwise he would have foreseen that someone might be offended and taken action in advance?
