Simon Dawson is the new drummer

Anyways, this is why I think they should've gone with a big name.

If they have gotten Simon Phillips for example... If Steve Lazarus started barking on social media that his son deserves the seat more than Simon fucking Phillips, someone would order and ambulance to Lazarus' house and take him straight to the psych ward.

This is a case of Harris' nepotism vs lack of Harris' nepotism.

Maybe that is being handled somehow, maybe someone will get that idiot quiet soon.

The thing is that Simon Dawson's pedigree as a drummer isn't even close to being big enough to completely shut all of this down. The problem is that the first gig is 6 months away and there will be a lot of talk until then, when Simon will have the chance to prove himself.

That said, I think we don't know the whole background.

I think Steve Lazarus and his son feel betrayed. It's normal, I think many of the who were crew members feel betrayed or not good enough treated, by Steve or Rod…

Steve doesn't seem like the sort of person to let a misguided Facebook post inform any band decisions.

But this is highly significant. You can't have someone in the band or in the band's close circle who reveals internal information on Facebook and washes dirty laundry there.

Ok, he has lost it and it seems that he has forgot that his own son had other commitments during TFP, so they put Simon on retainer and took BL to tour alongside Maiden.

Lazarus jr. was on a retainer during TBOS and LOTB, but NOT The Future Past.
But what was the actual reason of having a standby drummer available during those two tours?
Granted, the first time I thought that Nicko was getting too old for the job was on a Maiden England trek, but his performance thankfully never got to the point of being particulary "show-stopping"...

I sincerely hope that have tried playing with Simon this year. Because if they haven't and this decision was made on "I fuckin play with him in fuckin British fuckin Lion, he is the only fuckin drummer I want to fuckin play with if fuckin Nicko retires" and they haven't played a song yet, this could get problematic when they enter rehearsals.

Is Simon Dawson arrival similar to Blaze's?
Both fairly unknown and prejudiced.

oh, I forgot, we all forget, that Maiden days are numbered and Dawson is just a fill in tour musician. A forced choice. There will be no new full time drummer. Too late for that.

I don’t get why anyone has an issue with this selection. The band has always picked replacements that are at arms length.
Because it's Nicko. Even when Bruce left he was phoning it in and Maiden was making videos with an effin' magician (what?). Plus, The X Factor ended up being a decent record. Nicko, on the other hand, more or less made Maiden's sound.

Someone please disconnect the wifi from Steve Lazarus' home.

If there's drama, it means Joe Lazarus was very close to being the new Iron Maiden touring drummer. That's how I see it. And all those videos of Joe playing Iron Maiden songs exist on purpose. To make fans familiar with Joe and his playing, like some sort of advertising. I think, at the end Steve choose Simon (similar age, British Lion) and this decision was very hard to accept for Lazarus circle, because they were so incredibly close to the prize.

Insurance costs. At the point of TBOS, Nicko was the only member that was near/over retirement age of 65.

It's something that you can assume indeed is likely, but that no one from the band's environment should be posting and confirming on social media.
Apparently Rod is no longer that ruthless manager, otherwise he would have foreseen that someone might be offended and taken action in advance?
I think it's a shame that Nicko's departure is accompanied by such undignified drama.
Indeed, an argument for bigger names instead of Nepo Babies.

Yup, Rod has mellowed out over time.

About Lazarus... We simply don't know. It's strange. I think they kept it in the family and no NDA's were signed (or were, but just for the time of the retainer contract). And years later, things are getting revealed.
