RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Oh well, maybe he'll rock the Maiden tunes. Guess we'll have to trust Steve's judgement. It has, after all, been right on the money most of the time. It makes sense for Steve to go with somebody he's a bit locked in with already.

I meant a pub act in terms of musical ability more than star power. This guy has absolutely no feel and would be terrible for Maiden:
I would say that maybe he is confined to the style of music that BL plays, which is essentialy yes, a pub-rock variety of something remotely heavy.
Maybe he's really a beast and can perform Where Eagles Dare in his sleep, but just prefers to keep it a secret between him and Arry.

I'm really disappointed. And I think I'll not be the only one.

Hopefully he brings more than a 4 piece kit.
It will be fine. I'm sure he's more competent (and will practice his ass off) than BL leads us to believe

Now it is clear why British Lion toured with Maiden.

....
Blaze (no offence to the man)
Steve's Maiden album production choices
Dance of Death sound and album art
And now this...

We are doomed. In no way, I will believe that this man is better than fit Joe Lazarus.

I said most of the time, not all the time.

And Dance of Death had a great sonic intention (clearly derivative of Powerslave) - It just needed some more work.

In my mind, I don't think I've come up with a name that made me the least exited, so the pick feels whatever. It's not about the ability to play, I'm sure it's going to be fine, it's about replacing a character so universally loved by both fans, the band and most people that comes his way. It's not going to be the same without him and his antics. To be frank, few members in Maiden has been as important as a public figure as Nicko. He's never had a problem with interviews, he's been a funny guy every time there's a camera nearby and his personality has been present in many recordings, not just hitting the drums.

Nicko, we love you and you'll be eternally missed!

Simon Dawson? I'm extremely disappointed. Come on, Steve. I don't think he's up for and can handle Maiden. They don't want someone young? So many young drummers to choose from, and this is Steve's choice?

I never thought I'd be so disappointed with Maiden.:mad:

Ok, best case scenario IMO:
RFYL is the actual end for Maiden, not just touring, and it has already been decided internally. In a way, Nicko is still present but not physically. He does a few songs here and there at bigger concerts. It's a celebration and other past members are remembered as well.

Who knows what's going on in Steve's head but I'm sure hitting the 50 year mark is a huge deal and there would have to be an even more dramatic event for it to not come into fruition. But after that - more tours and another album?? The rest have to chime in on that and I'm not sure Bruce would be up for it. H could have an opinion as well. There's a risk of ruining the household name that Iron Maiden has become all over the world. It's not just a drummer that is being replaced. It's the beat of the heart and I don't just mean that musically.

Now it makes sense why they announced this tour in September.

I'm sure they knew about Nicko stepping down for at least 6-8 months.

This. And given the odd statement about filling in the live dates for 2025 (no mention of 2026 or the whole tour), I think RFYL might be the last tour, 50 years later. With no new music (if that's the plan), then what to do? Simon is not a bad drummer, plus Steve is used to him, but I just can't and never will accept this formation of the band. The character of Nicko will be missed too. Bruce is probably more interested in his solo career now, idk about Adrian. Maybe the decision of Nicko was a surprise for the whole band and they don't know what to do after the celebration tour. A strange choice like Blaze, but even more so, not that there was a right option. It was a fun and special journey, including here on the forum.

Btw, will some songs would be too tough to play?

Steve picking a guy he's already played with for 12 years makes sense to me.

I don't know. It's sometimes amazing how quickly you can play well with a new partner when the chemistry is just somehow right. And if he is very talented, this newness can be a fantastic motivation and stimulation.
