The kind of show Maiden puts on is exactly the kind of show I want to see.
You could also say their stage is the stage Maiden are famous for. To completely update a signature stage is often not wise either.
I also don't think Maiden need to radically change the fundamentals of their stage show this late in their career. Modifications like having those screens at the side extending the backdrops on the current tour are welcome changes though. We used to get stage layouts that weren't based on the same skeleton from 2003; some changes like that would be awesome...
This x3.
It's the perfect show, they don't need to change it, but something new and fresh is often great. The metal fans will always like the stage sets, modern or not. They never followed trends. Maiden are in their own competition, if they want to. They just have to enjoy playing live, everything else is a bonus.
I would leave something recognised as a typical Maiden stage despite all updates. If that was gone in the anniversary year, that would be strange too.
A special stage set for this special tour (*big anniv after all) is expected, even from Maiden who are old school. And especially after the current tour it would be right. Like playing more rare songs, which we all hope for. They have their trademark stage, but why not upgrade it for at least one tour. Besides that, more big screens or a different layout are the only possible things. And maybe a bigger stage plus crowd ramps (like for some festivals).
A Maiden show without backdrops but screens with moving stuff would be curious and very odd at the same time. I want to see how they can use them. If both are different, then they will completely update the stage for the first time since the 80's/TXF tour/2022 SJ stage. But I think there will be something typical, a fusion of both worlds perhaps. Big screens (more than 2) with the same layout. Probably, but who knows, I expect surprises. Modern stage plus 5-6 deep cuts would be the ultimate for the tour. If they top the Legacy show, that would be amazing.
The press release talks about a whole new level, pulling out all the stops, elaborate show which will bring the songs to life more than they have ever been able to do before, special setlist (not just the usual classics, I hope) - big promises so the show should be a very
different experience, methinks. Maybe more theatrics, props and videos(?). Let's hope they will deliver with the setlist too.
