RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Opinions were divided about how well the 2000 setlist flowed, and over what was included / left out.

Like you, I liked it. But the reaction you had was not uniform. There was huge bafflement for many people as to why:

- 20 minutes of Blaze era material was played on Bruce's first major reunion tour (20 mins is a huge %)
- why Dream of Mirrors, Sign of the Cross, Clansman, Blood Brothers weighed down the whole middle of the set
- and of course, casual fans bemoaned the absence of Run to the Hills etc

At least one band member made an indirect comment about this at the time (can't recall the source, too long ago).

The problem some pointed to with the 2000 set was not about consecutive epics - it was about the feel of the entire middle 50 minutes of the set.
Fair points and I can see why some of the more casual fans (or fans of the 80s material) would have issues with the setlist, but I loved it. I really appreciate that a good chunk of an album tour's setlist is actually devoted to said album. The four epics you mentioned are a major reason why RIR is my favorite Maiden live album. It's the perfect mix of mandatory classics, new material and honoring the previous few albums, even if they were not that popular.

Was it Nicko commenting that Sign of the Cross went down like a lead balloon in the states?

I kinda forgot how fucking awful Bruce was on that tour. What a selfrighteous little cunt to pretend he wasn't just feeling it when he blatantly was phoning it in out of spite. He got off easy, honestly. Davey ran right past him and didn't even give him a friendly prod.
I think he said ok im leaving and then rod and steve said we can go on a farewell.tour.

yes I think that was it, Nicko said it at the time.

I recall seeing them in 2002 at the 2nd Clive Burr trust concert at Brixton, with basically the same BNW set, having seen it 6 times by now since Earl's Court in 2000, and feeling it dragged. This, despite me being young and still quite a new fan who loved the Blaze era + BNW.

I felt the 'Give Me Ed' setlist (and indeed Wildest Dreams) were conscious attempts to rebalance perceptions and shake this up. Songs like Die With Your Boots On and Revelations were really surprising at the time.

It’s never going to happen, but I am strongly in favor of them opening with Iron Maiden. If they did that, nobody would have any idea what will happen next. Great way to open the show and surprise audiences with something that is usually the most predictable part of a Maiden show.

Also feels like they have been making show run adjustments to make this sort of thing actually make sense. Eddie has been showing up earlier on the last few tours (including on the first song for LOTB 2022 iirc) and putting Aces High at the end of the encore to allow for a post show photo-op feels like something they could do with Eddie. This means the big Eddie could come out at the last song which also means the big Eddie doesn’t necessarily need to happen during Iron Maiden and Iron Maiden doesn’t necessarily need to close the main set. But again, never gonna happen. :D

Sun and steel its like if they play women in uniform or total eclipse. Nobody remember that songs apart of us

I kept thinking about the title track idea and decided to put together a setlist with that in mind. I suppose this could also work as a "prediction" even if I doubt the final setlist will be anything like what I thought of. Like, this setlist is 90% fantasy and wouldn't make sense for them to play.

The Ides of March (tape)
1) Murders in the Rue Morgue
2) Prowler
3) 2 Minutes to Midnight
4) No Prayer for the Dying
5) The Trooper
6) Run to the Hills
7) Powerslave
8) Killers
9) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
10) The Number of the Beast
11) Phantom of the Opera
12) Fear of the Dark
13) Iron Maiden

Encore:
Blade Runner theme (tape)
14) Caught Somewhere in Time
15) Bring Your Daughter...to the Slaughter
16) Hallowed Be Thy Name
17) Running Free

In other news, we keep getting to over 80 pages with these threads and I don't know how much actual substance exists within that page count.

You could say the same, more or less about some newer material, right. And this is a song from a classic album. The band will play whatever they want. Somone had said that since they played Alexander and revisited the SIT album, they haven't had any interesting ideas left - and given the new tour, I think that's true. Unless there's a Part 2 of it, but why not merge them for 50 years. So they need some surprises along with the usual classics for the tour to be interesting, not just the stage set.

It's curious and depends on how many walk-on Eddies they'll use next year. I think it should be just the one from the poster - it's the classic Killers Eddie that hasn't been used live so far. For big Eddie too. It could potentially appear during a classic single or a song with noticeable props/effects (we expect this) like this year.

I hope they show something really interesting. According to Bruce's declaration, the band wants to take the show to the "whole new level" jaw-dropping experience.

More screens with moving landscapes and Eddies, more props, big light show/effects/pyro. What else? Moving scenery with screens or idk will be whole new level. It will be interesting for sure.

The post-covid leg of LOTB showed up the limitations of traditional, practical sets. Having a 6-7 minute delay while the crew changed the stage from the inflatable Senjutsu set to the "War" set could have been eliminated had the set been digital.

TFPT shows that they're moving in a more modern direction with the LED stuff. And since RFYL is going to be a decade spanning, all encompassing tour, there'll be a greater need for a more fluid stage design.

They're also probably feeling the pressure from the competition. Many of whom are pulling out all the stops in terms of elaborate stage productions.

If i could choose, I would take big fires, smoke machines, lasers and pyros instead of many led screens. And bigger stage. And... much louder and heavier guitars.
