RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Opinions were divided about how well the 2000 setlist flowed, and over what was included / left out.

Like you, I liked it. But the reaction you had was not uniform. There was huge bafflement for many people as to why:

- 20 minutes of Blaze era material was played on Bruce's first major reunion tour (20 mins is a huge %)
- why Dream of Mirrors, Sign of the Cross, Clansman, Blood Brothers weighed down the whole middle of the set
- and of course, casual fans bemoaned the absence of Run to the Hills etc

At least one band member made an indirect comment about this at the time (can't recall the source, too long ago).

The problem some pointed to with the 2000 set was not about consecutive epics - it was about the feel of the entire middle 50 minutes of the set.
Fair points and I can see why some of the more casual fans (or fans of the 80s material) would have issues with the setlist, but I loved it. I really appreciate that a good chunk of an album tour's setlist is actually devoted to said album. The four epics you mentioned are a major reason why RIR is my favorite Maiden live album. It's the perfect mix of mandatory classics, new material and honoring the previous few albums, even if they were not that popular.

Was it Nicko commenting that Sign of the Cross went down like a lead balloon in the states?

I kinda forgot how fucking awful Bruce was on that tour. What a selfrighteous little cunt to pretend he wasn't just feeling it when he blatantly was phoning it in out of spite. He got off easy, honestly. Davey ran right past him and didn't even give him a friendly prod.
I think he said ok im leaving and then rod and steve said we can go on a farewell.tour.

So good to hear Wasted Years played with a fast intro riff. Janick does a great job with the solo, it fits his melodic and fast playing. Bruce sings a different melody for the song, not cool.

I'm tired of it too (not the studio version), but I think if there's one song from SIT that could be played again - this is it.
Stranger sounds great

yes I think that was it, Nicko said it at the time.

I recall seeing them in 2002 at the 2nd Clive Burr trust concert at Brixton, with basically the same BNW set, having seen it 6 times by now since Earl's Court in 2000, and feeling it dragged. This, despite me being young and still quite a new fan who loved the Blaze era + BNW.

I felt the 'Give Me Ed' setlist (and indeed Wildest Dreams) were conscious attempts to rebalance perceptions and shake this up. Songs like Die With Your Boots On and Revelations were really surprising at the time.
