Replacing Nicko?

Love Mikkey Dee, but he wouldn't be a proper fit for Maiden. It's a lot like that performance Metallica did without Lars 20 years ago at Download, yes, it was a vast improvement musically, but it didn't sound like Metallica. Now, if Priest needed a drummer, Mikkey'd be an excellent fit with them.
Sounded better with lombardo but i missed the signature messy lars drumming. Probably would be the same with maiden.

I really don't know... they could do the same as Priest did with Glenn. And to be fair IMO Priest is delivering big time... jaw dropping albums and live performances. Yet, the way I see things, the last word must always be Nicko's. Then what the band would do should be conditioned by that. And yes... even calling it quits in the last case scenario... if that's what they think is the best option (I surely hope not).

Sometimes I wonder if some fans really know Maiden that well and how they work. There are bands who have no problem replacing some of their members for the duration of a tour or for the recording of certain parts in the studio (Kiss comes directly to mind). This is not at all the way Maiden works, never had and I'm 99.99999% sure never will. Is it the best way to do things? To each his opinion but its - almost - a guaranteed fact that's the way Maiden like to do things. And specially with a member that has been with the band for more than 40 years, there is no way they will replace him

They are not going to stay there forever. Maybe 1 or 2 more tours? 1 new album?
They cant kick him for 1 or 2 years not drumming ok and before aniversary tour. Unless he says ok boys maybe 3 songs and find another one.

We all know that people, situations and opinions can change. Bruce has talked in some interviews about how he would have wanted to help Maiden find a new singer if it had turned out that he could no longer sing.
Perhaps Nicko would want a successor himself? I'm not saying it can't well be that they don't want any more lineup changes.
However, I also disagree when it's described as so completely out of the question.

we all know that the drummer of British Lion will replace Nicko, arent we? :) joke aside, he is a really good drummer. Simon Dawson. and if he gets the job, he'll drum for BL and IM, so a huge minus from tour costs will make Rod happy :)
