Replacing Nicko?

For sure. As they said - new drummer is already chosen. So I would say that not only that but probably setlist for next tour is taking him into account.

Funnily enough, after the announcement I've personally gone from "is there even anyone who could do it" straight to "oh wow there's a bunch of great and/or interesting picks" which probably says something about me but also about the simple fact that we've been blessed with some absolutely fantastic currently active drummers over the years.

Doubt the rhythm section will ever be as tight as this, but hey, you can't have it all:
(also note Davey and Jan's interest at the contents of that end table or dresser or whatever in the background)

Bonham left the Hagar tour on august 27th... I think it's possible that after rehearsals Nicko told the band that it's his last year and they wanted Jason in Australia ASAP to play a few songs with them.

It's a wild theory, but it all checks out. My wild theory is that Jason Bonhamis the new Iron Maiden drummer.

Time will tell.

Honestly don't know much about jason bonham, but know he is good. How would he fit in IM?

He left because his mom was seriously ill, and is somewhat bitter over being cut loose by Hagar and not being allowed back in. It doesn’t check out - you don’t lie about close relatives’ medical conditions in the press.

He is a great drummer. Most importantly, he is great with a single kick. Check out Kashmir from 2007. He has groove... One of Nicko's main influences was John Bonham...

I don't know. Could be a coincidence, but a lot of thing check out.

Either a cover up or Hagar being a cunt.

The one Finn I'd like to actually have had some contribution to Iron Maiden (and funnily enough, also extremely related to Nightwish) is Holopainen himself, since apparently he and Harris met sometime in the 00s and the latter confessed to being a big Nightwish fan. I'd like to live in the alternate universe where they started talking about recording music and how Holopainen especially at the time provided keyboardist-for-hire services to many Finnish metal bands, both in the studio and live and all the remaining Maiden albums had his keyboard work on them instead. Alas!

Jason Bonham’s mother had health issues at that time IIRC. That’s why he left the tour.

I wouldn’t hate it, but I’ve never been super impressed with Jason Bonham. Would love to be proven wrong!

Edit: just saw that someone else pointed out the health issues
