Predictions on Setlist?

If they'd play anything from the Blaze era I'd be happy if they played a song from those years that hasn't been played since Bruce returned to the band.

The Edge of Darkness, Virus... I really think that Bruce would ace Blood on the World's hands perfectly

The Edge of Darkness would be grand. In fact, any song from The X Factor not previously done with Bruce would be grand.

Maiden have played the following Blaze-era songs since Blaze left (according to Forostar's comprehensive list):

Sign of the Cross
Man on the Edge
Lord of the Flies
Futureal
The Clansman

I'd say the more frequently a song has been played before, the bigger the chance they will play it again. If a song wasn't played on the tour promoting the album it was on, it hasn't been played at all. We shouldn't have too high hopes for songs played only once before, either. So I'll say the only Blaze era songs I think there's a realistic chance of hearing, are those they've already done with Bruce.

And as a live moment, I'd prefer The Clansman. It stands out from the rest of those as a live number.

I agree 100%

I always imagine Bruce going really high during the part where the vocals go ''Blood on the woo-oorld's haaaands''. Maybe it'll turn out stupid if they tried, but in my mind it's perfect.

Just like we all thought before they busted out Lord Of The Flies on the DoD tour.

I expect there will be one Blaze era song, most likely The Clansman, but it could be a surprise.

Please no Blaze era hogwash.  That was a mistake in the bands outstanding history.  Let's stop pretending here.  Yes as music goes, it is good.  But only when compared to the stank that is out there these days.  I would love to here some rarer stuff, like Montsegur, Face in the sand, Ghost of the Nav, fallen Angel maybe.  And absolutely ANY SONGS pre No Prayer. But come on, wasting precious  Maiden  Concert time on Virtual xI  bullshiz?  Please!

Blaze era stuff doesn't belong on a history of the band tour.  And how many tours are left anyway.  Hate to waste any songs on anything from those two albums, that's all I'm saying.  Phoenix and San Bernardino will be Maiden shows 31 and 32 for me.  I pray also no fear of the dark and 'Iron Maiden' either.  How many times do we have to here those live.  In spite  of those songs being played again,The Matter OLAD tour was so great.  What a joy getting all those extremely outstanding tunes. My thought is a heavy dose of the classics, with a twist. No Trooper but Die w/boots or flight of I' and or eagles dare.  No run/hills but 22 acacia, or how about Invaders.  1 or 2 songs from the past 3 albums also will be great. Wicker man and Ben breege, are locks for the set in my opinion. Losfer words,and/or the  Duelists  please..please!!

Reading through that was like walking barefoot through a street of knives. Difficult and painful...

And it's "hear".

@ bornless1 - if you've been to 30 Maiden shows, you should have learned by now that the song Iron Maiden is a staple of their show...

1000_suns with a twist?

Yeah it sure was a mistake when Blaze held the band together. It's a shame that because of Blaze, Maiden is still alive.

Hello to all! im new here!. I think maybe this time we will have the chance to hear again one of this songs : Afraid to shoot strangers, the prisoner, flight of icarus...and maybe Alexander the great for the first time.

As a fan who will get no closer than 7,497 miles to Maiden during the first leg of the new tour I cannot wait for the first gig review in this forum and the revealing of the setlist(with spoilers).  Of course after the heart palpitations settle down upon discovering the setlist and trekking down the new song on youtube, the mad and frantic search for a bootleg copy of a Final Frontier Tour show will begin.  And after all this fun the album will arrive and the weeks of listening commence.

The band seemed to really enjoy playing Wasted Years and Moonchild last tour so these may return.  By focusing on the last three albums the band will also give Dave, Adrian and Janick a fair split of the solos...Janick took on a few of Adrian's solos during the last tour but still had to wait until Revelations before his first.  After the awesome Adrian/Janick combo solo in the Trooper Janick then had to wait five tracks, including Rime and Powerslave, before he took on his next in Heaven Can Wait.  Some may argue keeping Janick in check isn't a bad thing necessarily, but my guess is the setlist will offer an even distribution of guitar solos...and will include a few songs such as No More Lies, that give all three a play.

They will also play at least one epic-lengthed track such as Dance of Death or For the Greater Good of God - both of which give the three amigos a solo each.  If either of these epic-lengthed songs do not feature on the setlist The Clansman or Sign of the Cross may well slot in, giving Janick a solo over Adrian, which will allow an older track such as Stranger In A Strange Land a place on the setlist and give Adrian an additional solo to make up for him playing only rhythm during the epic.

Well reasoned, but I can't imagine that Paschendale's chance is smaller than the other material of the last 3 albums. According to the Death on the Road tour book, Paschendale was the song every band member enjoyed playing the most.

Thank you Attacker!!  Ill take this as a compliment!!  My life has been like one long hot coal walk..I love the tribute avatar.  Dio was one of a kind. I only wish we all could admit that when Blaze hit the bricks we all rejoiced.  No question Blaze was important for the future of the of the band.  It sure beat a total breakup.  And yes I like the music.  But When the lads got back together, and Brave New World was birthed??  Don't you remember how great that was??  We have precious little Maiden remaining.  Let's get the best out there.

Some of us consider many of the songs from The X-Factor and Virtual XI to be among Maiden's best.

Agreed - good call.  All three guitarists get to flaunt their fretwork in Paschendale so if the band enjoy playing Paschendale then I'd say it is a near a certainty.  Because of the full AMOLAD setlist in 06 and the 80s Somewhere Back in Time the boys haven't had a real chance to pull Paschendale out again until now...so they'll be keen.  In fact, this could also be the reason Bruce has mentioned they'll be focusing on some newer material...they enjoy it so they wanna play it now because they've been unable for the last 4 years.

Anyway, I'm now going out on a limb somewhat but instead of the mandatory Dance of Death or Rime lengthy song at about number 7 in the setlist the band may play Paschendale and follow it up with The Longest Day or precede it with These Colours Don't Run....making it a combined war epic of 14 mins or so.

I think that would be grand, but I don't see how Rime should be the alternative. It would certainly not be one of my first guesses for "mid-show epic". Dance of Death, on the other hand, wouldn't surprise me.

Of course, I'd love to hear them all.

And Only The Good Die Young.

Thanks Wingman. I guess I should have referred to Sign of the Cross or DoD or even Dream of Mirrors as the potential lengthy number, as Rime has probably sailed off to distant seas after the last tour.
Only the Good Die Young would be very nice.

As would The Thin Line Between Love And Hate....plenty of guitarwork.

This set-list clocks in at 1 hour 26 minutes, not including the new song. Which would make it an even 90 minutes.

It seems like all of our perditions are fairly similar. Either we'll all be close to right, or way off.

01)  The Wicker Man
02)  Brave New World
03)  Wrathchild
04)  Rainmaker
05)  These Colours Don't Run
06)  Paschendale
07)  The Evil That Men Do
08)  New Song
09)  Sign of the Cross
10)  The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
11)  Futureal
12)  Fear of the Dark
13)  Iron Maiden

Encoure

14)  Still Life
15)  The Number of the Beast
16)  Hallowed Be Thy Name
