:ninja: SHHHH . Anyway after a long 10 hour shift and staying up for 33 hours I finally got my maiden tickets In section 101 row 26 seat 15 I got my tickets at 10:04 and the general admission tickets were gone but these should do. I might have to be like a ninja and sneak around to some empty seats during a Bruce rant. :ninja:

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

And then it is Lerkendal for me  :yey: Tickets are ordered and right now I'm celebrating with a nice cup of coffee  :)

Had some trouble getting through on the ticket sales website, but a friend of mine got through and ordered three, standing tickets of course. Hooray!

Ready for albatrosses and pyramids now ... must find the little box labeled "patience" in my medicine closet  :)

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

Stockholm Stadium and Helsinki olympic stadium is now sold out.
Just a few tickets left for Gothenburg. Hurry up if you want one. It will be a sell out within minutes I guess. :)

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

Second date in finland is indeed added. Announced on the promotor website www.welldone.fi :)

82000 tickets sold in sweden in 2,5hours... wow.

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

The response in Sweden is insane. I must say I'm a bit surprised that the sales in Norway haven't been bigger today - approx. 10000 were sold today for Lerkendal - I haven't seen the sales figures for Valle Hovin yet. Bad marketing? I read in a newspaper's web site that the total number of tickets for Lerkendal was 24 000. I'd guess much will be gone during this week. The first 7000 tickets went in 1/2 hour. I must still say I'm a bit disappointed with my fellow countrymen. How many more times will we get a chance to witness Maiden playing lots of classics from the mid 80's?

No surprise they announce a second show in Finland - the Finns are enthusiastic about Maiden so of course one show would sell out the first day.

IRON MAIDEN: Finnish Date Added To Upcoming Tour - Nov. 12, 2007

According to a posting on the IRON MAIDEN fan site MaidenNorway.com, MAIDEN has added another Finnish date to its previously announced Scandinavian tour. The group's Nordic schedule is now shaping up as follows:

July 16 - Stockholm, Sweden - Stockholm Stadium
July 18 - Helsinki, Finland - Helsinki Olympic Stadium
July 19 - Tampere, Finland - Ratinan Stadion (new)
July 22 - Trondheim, Norway - Lerkendalstadium
July 24 - Oslo, Norway - Valle Hovin
July 26 - Gothenburg, Sweden - Ullevi Stadium
July 27 - Horsens, Denmark - Horsens Gods Bane Pladsen

Tickets for the Tampere show go on sale on Friday, November 16 at 9:00 a.m.

According to Pollstar.com, Live Nation international chairman Thomas Johansson believes IRON MAIDEN's summer tour will break Nordic records by playing to more than 250,000 people across seven shows.

Apart from beating BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND, which played to just short of that figure in 2003, it will be the first time any act has played both of Sweden's major outdoors — Stockholm Stadium and Gothenburg Ullevi Stadium — during the same Scandinavian run.

Johansson and his Nordic colleagues in Denmark, Finland and Norway expect the shows to sell out, although he's not prepared to estimate how long it will take.

"We're going into Trondheim Lerkendalstadium in Norway and Horsens Gods Bane Pladsen in Denmark, which are both something of an unknown for us with IRON MAIDEN. In that respect we're taking something of a risk but IRON MAIDEN is the sort of act that gives promoters the confidence to take risks," Johansson explained.

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

I was originally surprised (and a bit disappointed) that Maiden announced only one show in Finland.  And I wasn't a bit surprised that they sold out so quickly.  Take that, Metallica!  Maiden sold out twice as fast as you in Finland!  And in the same stadium!

By the way, I got tickets.  :D  I waited half an hour on the internet, but I got three tickets in the field.  :yey:  So now it's just another eight months of waiting...

But, I would hazard a guess that the second gig was just a marketing trick.  I'm quite sure they had planned the second gig all along, and that they knew that Maiden would sell out fast.  Like Maiden did with the tour dates (one region at a time), I'm pretty sure that the organiser announced one gig first to stimulate extra interest; so that everyone would hurry up because they thought there was only one gig.  Then they do a second one, and of course there are people who didn't get tickets for the first one, so they take the second one.
Or am I just being overly cynical of marketing?

Is anyone going to two gigs, by the way?  I just think that since this is such an amazing tour, I might want to go to two.  Problem is, my friends aren't quite as fanatic as me, and I doubt they will want to go to another gig, especially as it's the day after the first one.  Is it worth it going alone?

I think you're pretty correct on this. Still, it's everyone's own will (or call it risk) to buy or to not buy the ticket of the first announced gig. You're never 100% sure if a second gig will come. So even it you think to know what might happen, you're never 100% sure if a 2nd one will be added. ;)

I am not going to Scandinavian gigs but yes: For the first time, I'll try to attend more than one Maiden gig from the same tour. I'll go to Wacken Open Air and hopefully to a Dutch or a Belgian date.

I've never been to a Maiden gig alone, but if no one else would come with me, I'd still go alone. I did this twice with other gigs:

-Bruce Dickinson (aka Skunkworks), supporting Helloween in 1996
-Halford, supported by Gamma Ray in 2000.

I had a great time witnessing these bands and I'm glad I didn't miss these eras.
Seeing the same band twice might be different. However: there's such a great atmosphere, you'll never feel completely alone, I guess!

Perun, and perhaps others, could tell us more about how it is to see Maiden twice (or more times) in the same tour.

It rocks!

Seriously though, I've always been to those gigs with somebody, usually with someone from this board (usually Freaky). The only gig I haven't witnessed with anybody from the board was Ludwigshafen, where I went to with my brother.
In fact, the only gig I've ever been to on my own was that of a Judas Priest tribute band way back in spring '05- I've even seen the real Priest with a mate. ;)

However, I can tell you what it's like to travel to some far-off destination to see Maiden and meet people from here. If that ever comes across as an option to anybody here, do it.

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

I've only ever seen Maiden in Glasgow so Stockholm is a pant-wettingly exciting prospect.  Always wanted to go elsewhere in Europe to see them and next July (god that long?) is my chance!!

MAIDEN MANIA in Sweden, Finland and Colombia!
Published: November 13, 2007

MAIDEN MANIA IN SWEDEN, FINLAND AND COLOMBIA AS TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR THE BAND'S SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR. ........EXTRA STADIUM SHOW IN FINLAND ADDED

When tickets went on sale yesterday morning for Iron Maiden's three stadium shows in Sweden and Finland the box offices were inundated and all 123,500 tickets were quickly sold out -- over nine months in advance of the concert dates.

The two Swedish shows, July 16 at Stockholm Stadium and July 26 at Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, with respective capacities of 31,500 and 50,500, sold out in less than two and a half hours.

The show at the 41,500 capacity Helsinki Olympic Stadium on July 18 sold out in under two hours and further demand is so great that a further show has been added in Finland at the 30,000 capacity Ratina Stadium in Tampere on July 19. Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday 16 November at 9.00am, but special arrangements are being made for their fan club members to buy in advance at an exclusive pre-sale - more information to be found at www.ironmaiden.com

Says promoter Thomas Johansson of EMA Telstar; "We said when we announced this tour that is was the biggest Nordic Tour by any rock band ever and that we wanted to ensure that as many fans as possible could get to see this amazing band. It's the first time any International Artist of any description has played stadiums in both our major cities, Stockholm and Gothenburg, on the same tour - and even this wasn't enough to satisfy the huge demand. All the 82,000 tickets were gone less than two and a half hours in these cities! The same story in Finland with Helsinki Olympic Stadium selling out 41,500 tickets in even less time, and demand is still so high we have added a second stadium in Tampere. You must appreciate that Helsinki has a population of half a million so this is equivalent to selling out a dozen Wembley Stadiums before lunch. It just goes to show just how much people here love and respect this band. Their response to this tour and these ticket sales are truly phenomenal. We will just have to make the next stadium tour even bigger!!!"

Tickets also went on sale in Colombia and Phil Rodriguez, the promoter for the show at the 30,000 capacity Simon Bolivar Stadium in Bogota, stated that it was the fastest and biggest first day box office of any music event ever in Colombia; "Box Office records were broken from the very start and Maiden mania is sweeping Colombia. We sold over 12,000 on just the first day. Nobody has ever done this, it's fantastic -- this is usually a "slow" market for ticket sales. But even though this is the first time the band have ever played here it does not particularly surprise us -- Maiden are just huge in all of South America, the kids worship them. This is a massive event for the hordes of Maiden fans here"

Manager Rod Smallwood comments; "We are delighted by the incredible response of our fans Worldwide to next year's tour. The reaction in Sweden and Finland is overwhelming, and also in Colombia, where we have never played before. Everywhere tickets have gone on sale so far we have had a tremendous response at the box office. Australia, where we haven't played for 15 years, opened up with nearly 45,000 tickets sold, with the large arenas in both Sydney and Melbourne selling out in less than half an hour and second shows added to both. Sales for Wachen, Germany's major Metal festival, are at this stage well ahead of any previous year so at least 70,000 will certainly be there. And this last weekend we also opened up with major arena dates in Los Angeles, New Jersey and Toronto and between them fans snapped up over 25,000 tickets within hours of the box office opening. Its seems that this has really caught the imagination of rock fans everywhere and we look forward to going on sale in many other countries very soon and getting back out on the road in India at the beginning of February"

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

Iron Maiden is blessed with so many loyal fans.  This should not be a surprise as they've never compromised their character or music.  I don't mean to have the following sound like a nu-metal bashing, but I doubt those bands would ever sell even remotely close to what Maiden is doing in South America and Scandinavia.  Toronto is too pop oriented to have such a passionate following.  However, even this city fully sold out its general seating (the pit) and virtually all of the next level by the time tickets went on sale to the general audience.  This is a testament to how huge and popular Maiden were during the golden years and today.

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

I don't remember much from the 2 Pittsburgh shows I saw, mainly cuz I was younger (19 and 22) and liked different bands. I saw Maiden in 2000 and 2003, and I think in 2003 there wasn't anyone on the lawn! We wanted to leave before everyone else did to avoid traffic and we walked out on the lawn and some security guard told us to get off of it lol

I think this time around more people will be there, the capacity is somewhere around 25,000 or so. I'm trying my hardest to get front row, even thought I'm not a fanclub member. Neither is my hubby. Sure, we could dish out the $100 (25 pounds each) to join, but...maybe next year.

One question. Is that an annual fee? You have to pay every year? It sounds like a silly question, but I'd like to know.

Yes, I think it is once a year.  I was in the fan club a long time ago.  Keith Wilfort was in charge of it back then, but things might have changed?  (However, I highly doubt it.)  I am thinking about joining again?  You know PG you can join for only 10.00 but it is strictly for online.  I think they give secert codes for concerts and you get to go on the IMFC forums.
Well, hope they come to your area soon.  Good Luck!

Re: More tourdates to be announced on Halloween says IM.com

Thanks  ;)

I'm almost certain they'll go back to Long Beach and play there, even though they already have an LA date so far. Bruce can say something like, "We made this show almost 25 years ago and want to thank the people who were a part if it! NOW SCREAM FOR ME, LONG BEACH!"  :D

You know he's gonna say that! hehe

IRON MAIDEN Confirms Paris Show - Nov. 19, 2007

IRON MAIDEN will perform at the Ominisport De Bercy Arena in Paris, France on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 as part of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008.

Bassist Steve Harris says: "We've had many great shows at the Omnisport De Bercy venue over recent years and it was actually the first place in Europe we played with the current lineup back in 1999. The atmosphere there is always electric thanks to the energy of the fans and we're really looking forward to playing there again. It's also tremendous to be able to use the profile of the 'Live after Death' DVD to do what is effectively an '80s show. It will be enormous fun and changing the approach to the songs we play tour by tour keeps it fresh and interesting for both the band and the fans alike. l think 'Powerslave' was an incredible show with the Egyptian theme and I'm looking forward to seeing it all again myself."

When tickets went on sale on November 12 for IRON MAIDEN's three stadium shows in Sweden and Finland the box offices were inundated and all 123,500 tickets were quickly sold out — over nine months in advance of the concert dates.
