Oh look, the two biggest tools in hockey on a stage together.

Kariya is to miss the entire 10-11 season due to complications from concussions. All the same, his last three season in St. Louis were his least productive of his career. Maybe it's time he calls it quits.

Me too, consistently productive, elite player. I was a little sad when the ducks won the cup without him. At least they had Salanne.

No fantasy for me this year, have bigger fish to fry.

Would you be up for a fantasy draft with no adjustments, just straight "what you draft is what you get"?

So the Kovy Saga comes to an end. The NHL and the NHLPA came to an agreement and the other insanely long contracts will not be investigated. However 5 new regulations were put on the table, apparently 2 are effective immediately and the others when the new CBA is negotiated in 2012.

Kesler is the only real choice, from my point of view. Everyone on that team is either too transient or too Swedish to be a good team captain. There are very few good Swedish captains in the NHL - Sundin was not one. Alfy is. Lidas is. I do not believe either of the Sedins would be.

Kesler certainly is the popular choice out here on the west coast.
I think he's too high strung for the responsibility, but I also agree there's really nobody else that fits the bill.

Yeah, I watched that earlier. Not too bad. I think the headcheck rule was coming for a long time, and the last season it seemed especially bad. It's not one guy every two seasons anymore. There were at least a half dozen serious injuries.

Yeah, glad something finally got implemented, makes for good (in a morbid way) highlight reels, but there are plenty of clean hits that get the same effect without increased risk of injury. I can see the Icing one taking a while for the players to get used to.

That's the hybrid icing rule that the GMs like. I'm still pretty much in favour of no touch, but I'm willing to see this rule go, and if it reduces injuries, good. That was one of Shanahan's camp ideas. I thought they did some neat stuff there this year.

No touch icing is for pussies, um... I mean Europeans :p. I like it in International tournaments, as well as the larger ice surface. I HATE it (and I don't hate many things) when things specific to a league/region are forced upon other events (NHL ice size for the olympics... good grief).
