Well, Edmonton came close, but what I meant was to be another 8th seed (and only the second 8th seed to do so) to get to the finals and possibly win it.

If you take down Washington you sure become the giant killers. I don't see any reason why they can't go through Pittsburgh if they take out Washington (aside from Pittsburgh is a playoff-experienced team). I'd love to see them hit the finals, but they'd be there to win.

Roll with the hot hand.  And you are correct, from the little I've seen, he is definitely 'Rockstar' quality for the Habs.  This next one will be a great series!

Caps did not do the things necessary, like play the body and get traffic in front of the net to win. Alot of their shots were taken from above the face off dots and from outside the slot. Ovie played horrible and was constantly triple teamed and did not dish the puc kwhen he was, instead trying to curl and drag or stick handle through three guys. And what is up with them still playing the umbrella power play when it clearly was'nt working. Having 3 guys up high and NO ONE in front of the net...no wonder they could'nt score. Better to play the over load or even only one point man. This was a coaching issue. Plus the lack of anybody on the Caps that is a bonafide playoff player, this was a recipe for disaster. Hopefully Halak plays the way he did in game 6 and 7 and they can upset the Pens too. Have the Ghosts of the Old Forum finally find there way to the Bell Centre?

Can you say, "HO-LY SHIT!" I am STUNNED! Go Habs! and I agree, if they beat the Caps, they can beat anybody, this next series is going to be great. Philly vs. Boston is another great one, both upset higher seeds, so here we go!

So NHL.com has video of so-called "iconic" moments from the current playoffs to play in with their "history will be made" campaign. Here's the thing... until a team wins history wasn't made. If MTL goes all the way... congrats, history was made (they already did by coming back from a 3-1 defecit as an 8th seed), but these new "iconic" moments are not iconic at all, rather routine, and with little to no impact on their series. So Fleury made a save... so fucking what? The series still needs to play out as it is currently 2-1 in pittsburghs lead. Had it been a game seven... ok maybe... but seriously, are they that desperate to create memories? gees. Can you tell I'm annoyed? lol

After a long, fantastic Cinco de Mayo night of drinking and celebrating, all I have to say is...

LETS GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!!! SEND IT BACK TO THE MADHOUSE FTW!!!!  :yey:

I don't know what the hell is wrong with Finland's head coach Jukka Jalonen. At the olympics he left Jussi Jokinen out (NHL:s best Finnish goal scorer this season) and now he left Granlund out. Granlund has greater hockey sense than any active Finnish player, and he's only 18 years old. And in his place there are guys like Riku Hahl and Oskar Osala, useless suckers. Feels like Jalonen intentionally wants bad success.

But at least the goaltenders are great, and defence looks good. And we'll get Filppula if and when Detroit gets beaten. Gold metal, here we come... yeah right.  :P

There MO is very similar to the 93 cup team. Get great goaltending, keep the game close and capitalize (no pun intended :smartarse:) on their chances. Hopefully San Jose does'nt get too overconfident and start drinking their favorie beverage, Choke-a-Cola.

Franzen had a great night. He's been Detroit's best player, but a team has come back from a 3-0 deficit only twice before. This Detroit team probably can't do it.

And woo! Go Habs go! That third period was great! Now, let's play SIX periods of hockey like that and take this thing in 6 games!

The Worlds start today, I was looking at the rosters for the US and Germany... bunch of unknowns... mostly, even the "NHLers". I like that actually. As for the playoffs, I cannot remember a cup run I was so excited about. EVERY series is amazing. I particularly like the Habs and Bruins in the East, while in the west... it's tough. My heart is with Vancouver, but I want a Sharks-Hawks Conference final.

Well, we'll have to see. Canada's Worlds roster is young but eager. We have a decent shot. The US one was surprisingly thin. The biggest problem with the Olympics is that the Worlds is becoming a young NHLer's thing to do. Older folk feel like they can take time off. I suppose that makes sense - the disappointment of not making the playoffs or being bounced in the first round, and they probably have families to spend time with - but still.

Montreal can do it. Boston certainly will reach the Conference Finals. And if it's Montreal vs. Boston....now, that, my friends...is gonna be Old Time Hockey!
