Game 7....this is for all the marbles. Montreal Canadiens, the unlikely upstarts versus the defending champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Should be one fucking awesome hockey game.

4-1 for the Habs at the halfway mark. Fleury has been chased.
Maiden reference in the 2nd intermission. Nice!

I have to say I am very conflicted. I am deeply saddened that Fleury shit the bed and the Pens lost. At the same time I am extremely happy for the Canadians as the underdogs. 5-2 is a very convincing victory and I hope they reach the final. Boston is really suffering from all the injuries, they should have put philly away in 4, but losing Sturm and Krejci among others has really hampered them.

Thats pretty sweet, what was the maiden reference and who made it?

It's awesome to see how much the Habs players are enjoying the ride. When was the last time an eighth seed made it to the conference final?

2006, the Edmonton Oilers pushed the Carolina Hurricanes to 7 games. The Oilers would have won too if Roloson hadn't gotten hurt. Markannen played shaky for a couple of games and got rolling too little too late. I believe that was the series that almost ended Ty Conklin's career as he fucked up big time.

But he still went on to lose in two more Stanley Cup finals.

What LC said. Conklin is increadibly capable and in those two other losses you speak of he did not fuck up, he played to his abilities. Fleury on the other hand... 4 goals in a game 7? Seriously? #1 overall pick "money" goalie? Already has one a Cup? WTF? The entire Pens team, WTF? I would have been more comfortable with a 2-0 or 2-1 loss, but 5-2? fucking ridiculous, they just gave up.

Habs better make it to the final.

Although I am enjoying the Habs success in this year's playoffs, I have to say that there's probably no other better situation for the Hawks if they get past SJ. The Habs do not match up well with the Hawks at all, and the Hawks are a team who rebound from fuck ups, unlike any of the teams the Habs have been playing recently (Caps routinely choke, the Pens were playing very uninspired hockey, etc).

Montreal - Chicago would be a brilliant final though.

That's what we call Old Time Hockey. But I don't see how the Habs can shut down Ovechkin and Crosby and Malkin and not have a decent chance at shutting down Kane, Toews, and Hossa.

I think they'll do a good job, but that's honestly not the Hawks main strength. It's their defense. It's hard to stop such fast, precise wingers when you can't get past an unstoppable duo like Keith and Seabrook. Not to mention, Niemi is playing like a top 5 goalie right now. The Hawks are also arguably the deepest team in the league, with very few injuries plaguing them right now. In short, they're running on all cylinders.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm being a bit of a homer, and the way the Habs can beat anyone playing the way the are right now. I just don't see it happening against the Hawks if that's what ends up happening. But best of luck to them, because it would be amazing to see that final. The sting of losing the cup would actually be more bearable if it were lost to the Habs, because at least there'd be good news to watch of Montreal being torn to shreds by rabid fans.

OK, the Niemi thing is kinda bullshit, I think he has been playing good but not top 5. But aside from that, the Hawks are my pick from the West, always have been, all year. The Habs? Well, we have to go through the Bruins or the Flyers. We can't look ahead now. The Caps and the Pens did that.

I never, ever saw a team perform a double choke before last night's game 7. Giving up a 3 goal lead after giving up a 3 game lead is just fucking ridiculous. I'm pulling for the Habs to go all the way and hopefully playing back to back 7 game series won't take it's toll too much.

Given that the Habs are the healthiest team right now...and they've had a nice 4-day layoff...yep. They can do it.

What the fuck is wrong with this picture? Out west the conference final is the #1 seed vs the #2... the way it should be. Out east... the #7 seed vs the #8?! WTF!
