So the 'Canes won.... NY needs to win and needs help after that.... Dallas won so Chicago also needs to win and some help after that... interesting picture.

I quite frankly expected the score of the Tampa/Carolina game to be the otherway around. With the Lightning having everything in place and nothing to play for and the Whalercanes fighting for thier playoff lives. Especially the way Carolina played their previous 10 games.

Me too. Was shocked when the early scores rolled in. Can beleive the way the Cane's whiffed.
But I liked it.

Nice matchups in the first round in the east:
Ovechkin vs Lundquist
Buffalo and Philly is always fun.
Habs and Bruins is an all-time rivalry.
and even Pit and TBay should be interesting.

I like the match ups all around... Chicago couldn't do it though... lets see if Minnesota lends them a hand against Dallas.

I am kinda pulling for Chicago to not make it, because I want Toews, Keith, Seabrook, and Sharp for Team Canada.

I want Chicago to make it because the Vancouver v. Chicago series of the past 2 years have been awesome.

Last year was Byfuglein's coming out party. He was huge in that series. 'Hawks are gonna miss him.

No doubt,  they had no answer for him, it will be a miracle if the Hawks get past them this year, they are nowhere as good as the past 2 years and Vancouver certainly had a great season.  Overall, I think the Hawks did a good job brining in young talent for everyone they had to get rid of after last year, in another season or two they have a shot at being back on top.

Don't count the Hawks out yet. If anyone in the NHL today is Mr. Clutch it's Jonathan Toews, and he has the capability to steal a series as long as he gets some decent support. Chicago is still serious business. It's a good matchup for Vancouver - if they get through Chicago, I feel bad for whoever they meet next.

Here's my picks:

1. Vancouver vs. 8. Chicago - Vancouver in 5.
2. San Jose vs. 7. Los Angeles - San Jose in 6.
3. Detroit vs. 6. Phoenix - Phoenix in 6.
4. Anaheim vs. 5. Nashville - Nashville in 7.

1. Washington vs. 8. New York Rangers - Capitals in 5.
2. Philadelphia vs. 7. Buffalo - Buffalo in 6.
3. Boston vs. 6. Montreal - Montreal in 6.
4. Pittsburgh vs. 5. Tampa Bay - Tampa Bay in 7.

And I'm not hometowning for the Habs, they won the season series and will be playing for blood. Can't wait till Game 3, it's gonna be a doozy.

I would'nt worry about the Habs, they always have Boston's number when it comes to the playoffs. We'll see Vancouver flame out, they've become the new San Jose Sharks. Caps over the Rangers, but it will go 7 games. Torts will have another incident with a Caps fan. Detroit over Pheonix in 5 games, Ducks over the Preds in 6. Buffalo over Philly because Miller will be insanely good and Pittsburgh over Tampa in 6. San Jose over LA, also in six.

That is an awesome song! I cannot believe it has so few hits... What great first night!

P.S.... Fuck the Habs...

I watched the game on Versus last night and they made the point that the last time Boston scored in the playoffs, they led the Flyers in the first period of game 7 and had'nt scored since LOL. Price was unbelievable in net last night. And that second goal by Gionta was from an unbelievable play by Scott Gomez. My son, who is a die hard Bruins fan, was pissed at the way Thomas played.

Ryan Miller played an unbelievable game for the Sabres. Hopefully tonight Lunqvist will be as good as Price and Miller.
