That does suck for the Rangers. Callahan and Dubinsky have carried the lion's share of the production as of late, great effort by all forwards though in pitching in here and there. If only Fedotenko and Prospal played to potential. Speaking of under-achievers, Gaborik has been nothing short of a disappointment for the Rangers IMO. They were expecting to replace Jagr and apparently they didn't notice he is made of glass...

Gaborik is made of glass?! I'm fucking shocked!

Rangers have been on a fucking tear recently. Timmy T may have messed up there, but it won't stop him from winning the Vezina; he should definitely be mentioned in the Hart discussion, but that'll likely be Dan.

What?! You haven't head?! He's the president of "I never play a full season due to injury" club. Martin Havlat is his VP :p

Agreed on Timmy T. I am VERY excited over these Playoffs. My call for the finals is Van vs. Bos. my second choice would by Sharks vs. Philly.

You guys failed to mention the Wayne Gretzky of the Made of Glass league: Rick DiPietro.

In all seriousness, Gaborik's lack of production is him not having a center to distribute the puck. It has been the bane of the Ranger's offense ever since Michael Nylander left and Jagr had no one to give him the puck. I give Glenn Sather alot of credit for resisting his crack like addiction for trading away the youth core in exchange for a rental, in this year's case Brad Richards.

Richards is "only" 30... in today's league he still has 8 more years practically guaranteed and a decade if he takes care of himself and baring a freak injury... While I agree with you on commending Sather, I can't help but think Richards should have been traded and he would have been a great fit for the Rangers.

a praise for mentioning Dipietro as a member of the made of glass club hahaha.

I think he should win the Hart.  If you're looking at individual contribution to a team, Thomas is right at the top.  Last year, the average sv % was 0.911.  An "average" goalie in Thomas' shoes these years would have let in 155 goals to Thomas' 109.

What other player can claim that kind of net contribution to their team this year?  No one may very well reach 50 goals, yet Thomas has essentially produced 46 goals above average for his position for his team.

To put this into perspective, Carey Price, despite having played 15 more games this year, has only played 22 goals above average this year.  Thomas has essentially doubled his net contribution despite playing in less games.

Well, you might look at that and decide that Boston also has a very good defensive core, and plays a decently defensive style of hockey that make Timmy T's job easier. But like I said, he pretty much should be in contention, but Dan will get it. That's a prediction, not a suggestion.

If I was a voter, I don't know who I'd pick overall, but I can guarantee that Dan Sedin AND Tim Thomas would be on the ballot.

I know Joe Neiuwendyk wanted Dubinsky and Staal for Richards. I think that was a nice way of saying to Glenn Sather "go fuck yourself." I think the Rangers are gonna go after Richards in July. But they need a bonafide playmaker.

So last night on NHL Overtime they revealed the results of their poll question: What city do you think deserves a hockey team? The candidates were Hamilton, ON, Winnipeg, Quebec, Seattle and Kansas City. The winner?

SEATTLE.... 50% of votes, the next city was a DISTANT second with 19% of votes... Man I love it when I'm vindicated. If only Bettmen had as much sense.

Well, business sense doesn't always correspond to internet polls.  But it's not a bad place for a franchise, one would think.  At least all 6 Vancouver/Seattle games would sell out.

exactly, that rivalry would be HOT from day one. The business generated from all the canucks going to vancouver and all the seattle folks going to vancouver? not just the arena, adjacent business like restaurants, coffee shops, hell even hotels for people that want to make a weekend out of it... I think it would be awesome for the regions economy... even if it's only 20,000 people lol

What about the other 76 games? I mean, I'd love to see a team in Seattle, don't get me wrong, but does the market there support a team every night? The arenas in the two cities are the same size (15,177 in Seattle, 15,015 in Winnipeg), so it really does come down to, financially, who can sell more tickets at a higher price.

I guarantee in either city that sales numbers would be better than in both Atlanta and Phoenix.

Atlanta is an interesting experiment as well... This is the second time the city gets a team and the second time they go pretty much unnoticed. Almost as much if not more than Nashville, but unlike Nashville, they suck as well. Atlanta is the only franchise to move from the U.S to Canada and I wouldn't mind that move again in the least. I think the league is too concerned with evening out the conferences map-wise rather than where a team will actually succeed.

Yes, they do. They've started to slowly forge themselves a market. Not the biggest market, but the team has broken even, so that is pretty good by NHL standards.

If Nashville moved east they'd make *tons* more money, because snowbirds would plan their trips around games. Not a bad argument for Harry Buttman. I mean Gary Bettman. (I may have rewatched Bon Cop, Bad Cop....)

Seattle was the first American city to win the Cup. The Metropalitans way back in 1917.

I'd like to see either Pheonix, Atlanta or Nashville move to Winnipeg. Bring back the Jets!
