NOW WATCHING

So, I wanted to watch a Christmas film to get myself in festive mood. I only had one which is remotely Christmas related, if only because it features the nativity scene. So I watched it.

Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone.

"You come from nothing, you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!"

Absolute comedy perfection.

I just watched Phantasm 1 and 2  :D

I've only caught the ads on TV, what is about?

I'd start at Season 1, good show about a son of a cop who notices things really well and becomes a psycic detective (it was on before the mentalist), if you are a fan of 80s pop-culture references, this is the show for you.  I think it is quite good

So is he psychic or just has an eye for detail? Because the Mentalist isn't psychic, his more like House meets Lie to Me with a smirk... But I'll check it out on netflix. I've been binging on House and Bones... awesome shows.

He was also on before the Mentalist and Lie to Me.  It is a comedy/crime show, in the same vein as Monk, but more over the top comedy.

I'll follow LC here. I tried to think of something awful and Christmas relative, like a thriller or a splater movie, nothing comes to mind. So Die Hard for today. Plus I've never watched it before.

How about Black Christmas, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Santa's Slay or, and I am surprised you did not think of it - Gremlins?

Thanks, I'll go for Santa's Slay (nice title)
Gremlins, it's been maybe more than 20 years that I've seen it... Wasn't it a comedy? No I wanted something really awful, something like Hostel, if possible.

Gremlins is a very dark comedy. I haven't seen it in ten or fifteen years myself, but as a kid, I loved it mostly because it is a wildly inappropriate film for kids, and my parents never realised that.

I'll check that so.  :)

Gee, at 05:26 when John McClane arrives at the airport, there's a gorgeous ass appearing. Thought it'd be cool to share it.  :D

Added.  B)

Just finished with Die Hard. Awesome. One of the best action (and Christmas!) movies I've seen. The script is as tight as it gets, and the casting exceptional. I've really impressed with the script though, it reminded me the old school Hollywood where every detail had a purpose in the plot. A solid 9.

I LOVE Gremlins. Gremlins II is not bad either. Glad I'm not the only one showing the furry critters some love :)

Gremlins scared the shit out of me. I remember seeing it at a party of a classmate, around the time it was released on video. Especially the "changing" was frightening.

Funny, because after all these years I am in love with horrors, but mostly classic ones from 1920s-1960s.

I saw True Grit last night. The girl (Hallie Steinbeck, IIRC) is amazing.

Now I wanna see the John Wayne original - it's the only movie Wayne won an Oscar for.
