Arrested Development.

Amazing sitcom.

Brilliant stuff. One of my all-time faves.

Got the complete series on DVD for Christmas.

Other (newish) sitcom I'm enjoying these days is The Office.

I think the most recent sitcom that I think has the best chance of getting appreciated by people here is Community.

30 Rock, I think, is very overrated.

Modern Family and The Middle are pretty decent recent sitcoms as well.

I don't get The Office...

There is a German adaption of that programme called Stromberg and a parody of it called Obersalzberg. The latter has virtually the same setting and cast of characters... only in the Third Reich, with the manager being Hitler. It is of extremely bad taste, but one of the few pieces of recent German comedy that at least gets a chuckle from me now and then.

For sitcoms, I like 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, and Modern Family the best for what is on now, started watching Outsourced.  I also like most of the Fox cartoons to varying degrees, and Archer on FX is funny as hell.

I used to drive up to Hollywood with some friends and saw Married with Children taped about 20 times, a lot of fun.

I don't watch a lot of sitcoms.  I liked the first few seasons of The Office, but its gotten kind of worked over the last couple.

Mostly I watch dramas, and Bones is the only one I watch consistently.  Love that series.

Amazingly enough, I never actually watched any of the original "The Office" - I did, however, catch the odd episode of the US version. But got into Gervais' "follow-up" sit-com "Extras". Which is f'ing hilarious.

So I just saw three series premieres today: NBC's new superhero drama The Cape and two new Showtime shows: a comedy called Episodes and a US version of UK's Shameless. 2 for 3. The Showtime pilots were excellent.

Shameless ensemble seems really solid although I'm not too crazy about the black girl. Emmy Rosum looks like a cross between Angelina Jolie and Brittany Murphy, but in a good way; although they're supposed to be a family from the projects so naturally she isn't made up to look glamorous. The Episodes pilot felt like it setup the series really well in addition to the writing being smart and funny. Loved Richard Griffiths in it and I think this is going to be Matt Leblanc's first success after Friends.

The Cape just felt too cheesy and comical to work; and true enough, it was awful. I think they're going for mindless superhero action, which is exactly what no one wants out of a superhero. The entire thing was basically one big origin story montage. I swear the people who make these "comic book" type shows have never actually read a comic book.

Also, haven't they heard:

Burn After Reading, Very funny film 8/10.

AWESOME movie.

Since I've been sick these past few days I was really glad to find a Green Hornet marathon on the SyFy channel of all places. I LOVE the theme song which is a Big Band Jazz treatment of Flight of the Bumble Bee which was nicked named "The Green Bee." I highly entertaining show, but at this point for all the wrong reasons lol. It is cheesy as heck, but I couldn't stop watching. Now I can easily see how Seth Rogen could write the new movie as a comedy.

I watched that as well (we had it on BBC - I think it's a joint production with them and Showtime), and I thought it was really good. Very funny!

I agree, I'm making my way through all the coen brothers films at present, next up Miller's Crossing.

:ok:

A very worthwhile thing to do. Coincidentally, I myself have decided just last week that I was going to do that: Watch all their films in chronological order, even those that I've already seen before. After that, there's hopefully a hi-def blu-ray rip of True Grit out there.

I'm going chronologically, so I'm starting with Blood Simple.

Hopefully I can find 720p rips of all their films.

I'm watching them in a completely random order, True Grit is one of their films I haven't had the pleasure of seeing yet: I'll be watching Blood Simple in the next day or so.

I really liked Burn After Reading, a very quirky film.

I caught 3 episodes of The League (FX), very funny I thought.
