6-5 Seventh Son

Second pairing is a nightmare. I've gone for Infinite Dreams in the end but that was close. Could change on a daily basis, in fact.

There is no way one of the best short rockers ever should be losing to the (relatively) ponderous, drawn-out and repetitive Seventh Son.

It was heartbreaking to vote against "The Number of the Beast", but "Seventh Son..." is in my Top 3 Maiden songs only behind "Rime..." and "Empire...", so...

Invaders - Moonchild
Children of the Damned - Infinite Dreams
The Prisoner - Can I Play With Madness
22 Acacia Avenue -The Evil That Men Do
Prowler '88 - Massacre
The Number of the Beast - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Run to the Hills - The Prophecy
Gangland - The Clairvoyant
Total Eclipse - Black Bart Blues
Charlotte the Harlot '88 - Sheriff of Huddersfield (Funnily enough, this is where I had to pause for a moment... :P Voted Charlotte, but I can't say I dig the song. but it's still more of a song than Sheriff.)
Hallowed Be Thy Name - Only the Good Die Young (Damn, I'd like to support OtGDY, it's a brilliant song, but you can't win with HBTN...)

7-4 to 'The Number of the Beast'. Without the b-sides it would've been 5-3. Some of these b-sides are awful.

Seventh Son completely dominates NOTB here. Probably the first time since the last FOTD round that it's a complete blowout for me. 7 - 4 to Seventh Son. The only tough round was Children vs Infinite Dreams. This was the only round where the songs were well matched, everything else was pretty lopsided. For example, you have one of Maiden's best openings of all time with Moonchild vs one of their weakest openings of all time with Invaders. You also the iconic Hallowed Be Thy Name vs the very strong but somewhat anticlimactic Only the Good Die Young. Number of the Beast vs Seventh Son is a controversial pairing that will test this forum's epic bias. Seventh Son is a good track but it is far from the best epic. The Number of the Beast, on the other hand, is not only easily among their top 5 best short rockers but is worthy of an overall top ten.

"Invaders" vs "Moonchild"
"Children of the Damned" vs "Infinite Dreams" (one of the toughest choices so far in this game)
"The Prisoner" vs "Can I Play With Madness"
"22 Acacia Avenue" vs "The Evil That Men Do"
"Prowler '88" vs "Massacre"
"The Number of the Beast" vs "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" (not an easy choice neither)
"Run to the Hills" vs "The Prophecy"
"Gangland" vs The Clairvoyant"
"Total Eclipse" vs "Black Bart Blues"
"Charlotte the Harlot '88" vs "Sheriff of Huddersfield"
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" vs "Only the Good Die Young"

Based only on album tracks, SSOASS would have won but b-sides are a game-changer

Anyone else confused by Prowler and Charlotte '88 representing NOTB?

How so? Two of their most classic albums.
Beast is THE classic album among classic albums. Plus

5-6. Closer than I thought, as SSoaSS is my second favourite album, and I usually rank TNoTB as "merely good". The only tough choice this time was Prowler '88 against Massacre - was extremely tempted to vote for the latter, but I like the '88 version of Prowler (better than the original, actually).
