Oooh, this one is tight, I am goin to have to have a good re-listen for the Killers vs Breeg match up. I rate both very highly and it sits at 5-5 at this point.
I had exactly the same. Recently I enjoyed Killers a lot (both album and song) so I gave to the Di'Anno track.

Ides of March vs. Different World
Wrathchild vs. These Colours Don't Run
Murders in the Rue Morgue vs. Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
Another Life vs. The Pilgrim
Genghis Khan vs. Longest Day
Innocent Exile vs. Out of the Shadows
Killers vs Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
Twilight Zone vs. For the Greater Good of God
Prodigal Son vs. Lord of Light
Purgatory
vs. Hocus Pocus
Drifter vs. The Legacy

6-5 Killers

Apart from Killers vs Breeg these were easy enough decisions, some close calls but no real mind bogglers. Good tussle and again, the album I rank higher overall loses out.

Only three races even remotely close as A Matter of Life and Death buries Killers 10-1 :dead:

Next up, the favourites of Maidenfans hipsters everywhere: Somewhere in Time versus The X Factor.

Goddammit, this is fucking hard. Lord of the Flies VS Wasted Years?? It's WY, but FUCK.

The X Factor wins for me, but holy shit for some of these I nearly did eeny-meeny-miney-moe.

Very easy.
  • "Sign of the Cross" vs. "Caught Somewhere In Time"
  • "Lord of the Flies" vs. "Wasted Years"
  • "Man On the Edge" vs. "Sea of Madness"
  • "Fortunes of War" vs. "Heaven Can Wait"
  • "Look For the Truth" vs. "Reach Out"
  • "The Aftermath" vs. "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner"
  • "Judgement of Heaven" vs. "Stranger In a Strange Land"
  • "Blood On the World's Hands" vs. "Deja-Vu"
  • "The Edge of Darkness" vs. "That Girl"
  • "2 AM" vs. "Juanita"
  • "The Unbeliever" vs. "Alexander the Great"
6-5 for Somewhere In Time. Felt no need to think twice about any of these.

Two albums that tend to get a little overrated on this forum in a surprisingly appropriate pairing. There were several matches that I found extremely difficult and I was surprised to find my votes fairly evenly distributed. I ended up going 6 - 5 in favor of X Factor, but once again quantity was on this album's side. On the other hand, Somewhere In Time has arguably the strongest b-sides and that came through with That Girl vs The Edge of Darkness. Reach Out is also strong but Look For the Truth is the hidden gem of The X Factor (also probably Blaze's best lyrical contribution to Maiden). Blood On the World's Hands should be dominating the unexciting Deja Vu, but so far it looks to be a close match.

The hardest pairing for me was actually the last one. I ended up going with Alex for the instrumental section, but it was very close.

Very tough choice between SOTC and CSIT, ended up going for the latter on account of TXF's crappy sound (especially compared to RiR). Edge of Darkness was the only song standing in the way of a SIT clean sweep for me

10-1 to SIT

The Unbeliever vs. Alexander the Great

8-3 to 'The X-Factor'.

Some really tough choices with these two, specially with some of the matches, so the final

Sign of the Cross
vs. Caught Somewhere In Time (both are among my favorites but SOTC is longer and is more diverse)
Lord of the Flies vs. Wasted Years
Man On the Edge vs. Sea of Madness
Fortunes of War vs. Heaven Can Wait
Look For the Truth vs. Reach Out
The Aftermath vs. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Judgement of Heaven vs. Stranger In a Strange Land (Judgement of Heaven is one of the gems from the X-Factor imho but really no chance here against SIASL)
Blood On the World's Hands vs. Deja-Vu
The Edge of Darkness vs. That Girl (probably one of the best b-sides but again the choice here could have gone both ways)
2 AM vs. Juanita
The Unbeliever vs. Alexander the Great (it ends the way it started, The Unbeliever is a forgotten gem and one of the best on the X Factor, so a very difficult choice as well)

7-4 to SIT but it's not necessarily representative, it could have been ended differently

7-4 for SIT. It was hard to vote against Blood on the World's Hands.

The TXF songs I selected:

Fortunes of War
Judgement of Heaven
2 AM
The Unbeliever
