I am rather in an underground minority movement
What a way to put it.:lol: I'm now imagining you having clandestine meetings after curfew in random locations in Amsterdam with like-minded fans of unpopular Iron Maiden songs. Always on the run from the Gestapo-like fans of 'The Trooper', 'Run to the Hills' and '2 Minutes to Midnight'.

Foro: what is the password?
Other guy: *whispers* Fugitive.
Foro: how was your journey here?
Other guy: complex.

I'm a fan of all eras and don't like trying to compare and pick a favourite. I adore the Di'Anno era and I'm certainly no hater of the Blaze albums. I listened to VXI today and I didn't even skip Angel & The Gambler. High praise, indeed! Joking aside, there's some great stuff on there. Although I don't really like ranking albums too much, my Top 5 could very likely feature the debut and The X Factor wouldn't be too far away.

Personally, I can only really be certain about my least favourite phase/era and that would be No Prayer/FOTD (I divide the 90s when thinking about eras/phases). And even then there's plenty that I like on those 2 albums. This game, in particular, has highlighted the quality songs on albums that I rank lower.

I agree with a few points above....

1. Its all opinions, no right or wrong.

2. DOD beating the debut sucks balls.

3. 2 Mins is an amazing song

We got a really tight one here. With the second and third battles being as close as they are, this is going to wind up being anywhere from a 7-4 win for DoD, to a 6-5 win for IM!

Rainmaker is probably one of the best short songs by Maiden since 2000....So fair enough, sad that it has to win over Remember Tomorrow though. But Journeyman and it's: know what I want/say what I want line of crap beating the awesomeness of Iron Maiden is a disgrace :p

"Iron Maiden" in the studio is monotone and lifeless (it only truly comes to life live, so much that the LAD version is my favorite Maiden track ever, even more so than "Rime..."), while "Journeyman" is a beautiful tune which works wonderfully either way. The latter wins this match-up by a mile for me (since we are talking studio versions here).

Maybe you need to listen to the Soundhouse tapes of Iron Maiden because that's anything but "lifeless"...

Journeyman sounds like a bad episode of the 90s's television show Friends....and the lyrics are so horribly camp :ahhh::p

I disagree about studio IM being "monotone" and "lifeless" but I do agree that Journeyman is the better song.

Ah, but remember: there are no bad Friends episodes. :ok:

Ok, 1st: Friends is the best sitcom ever and has absolutely no bad episodes;
2nd: "Journeyman" is fucking great;
3rd: The Soundhouse Tapes version is even worse than the album version.

Okay, this one sounded a little too mean. :P

Let me rephrase that: the debut album version is good, I like it. The ST version is nice too. However, both fall flat in comparison to (most of) Maiden's entire catalog.

There's no doubt that Iron Maiden is a live song...but production aside I still sense a little more life in the Soundhouse Tape version even hough it perhaps doesn't *sound* as good....

But live is where it's at of course!! Also...a better live track than Journeyman without a doubt!! Journeyman at the Dance of Death tour was a snorefest.

I love the electric version of Journeyman, especially the wailing guitar lead at the beginning.

I think the electric guitars kill the atmosphere. They don't work for me at all, leaving the acoustic version on the album was certainly the best choice.

You're so close - Golden Girls is the only sitcom better than Friends. :ok:
