People look weird at me when I´m listening to music on the train and change the discs (original albums, no copies!)
When it comes to music I like to listen to the whole album too instead of just a few tracks.
Of course I discover new (read as mostly old) music on YT and if I find really great stuff I buy the real album.

I have a lot of vinyl (see my signature),but I paid Spotify for everything else. I download the albums there, perfect for planes, driving, walking, etc if I am in a spot with a bad connection. I have some CDs, but cannot think of the last time I actually listened to one

I buy real albums as well. Ripping them onto devices to have to listen to them turns the joy of music into a chore but better than wasting money in dead rent.

The youth wondering why they cant buy a house, might want to wonder about the message they send to the world with streaming, i.e. you are willing to pay rent for anything. As @Diesel 11 said a few posts back people are paying rent to chatgpt because they cant use search engines

There is no pulling yourself up by your bootstraps if you’re born into a poor family nowadays. Maybe one day things will be easier, but things were a lot easier for your generation and the generation before you. You don’t know what it’s like for some people trying to survive right now.

It was always the case, but with the right character and genius and right choices, timing and tons of luck people born into poor families could still make it.

And yes, we are worse than previous generations but still part of the richest 10% or less of the world population, yes there’s so much poverty and misery around.

Absolutely for my generation alright, not for the generation behind me, in Ireland anyway.

But that wasn't the point I was trying to make, and I certainly wasn't trying to point the finger in a "you brought this all on yourself" manner.

Woop, going to see a decent Iron Maiden coverband today + eating the venue's BBQ buffé (the guy running the joint is a rather decent cook, so we usually order his takeaway that he offers on New Years Eve + 1 date in the summer).

My dad passed away tonight. :(
Think I will have some break from the forum

Thank you for the inspiration
Thank you for the smiles
All the unconditional love
That carried me for miles
It carried me for miles
But most of all thank you for my life

Rest in peace sweet father. Forever in my <3
My condolences for your loss.

Imo, the last exchanges in political threads were not that offensive or brutal. Just casual disagreement. It's called democracy, even if it involves name calling (this time nothing outrageous, imo). Now, we're just hiding it all under the carpet. Anyway, it's a decision of the mods, they have right to do it. I just want to point out, that nowadays we live in a time of great turbulence and what happens here is not casual team versus team. It's so much more than that. It's historic and emotions inevitably errupt and will errupt in the future. Because very much it's at stake. Peace.
