We're force-fed so many feminist theories in class by professors and students that I'm gonna puke with exhaustion. I'm studying Translation ffs, not Feminist Studies.

Almost every text, every presentation, every assignment includes feminist works as examples.

I identify as an egalitarian but come on. It's boring at this point. Is there really nothing else to discuss in the world?

That's the charm of academia. One thing is the actual field you're studying (translation), but the field you apply it to depends on what your professors find interesting. Until you become a researcher yourself, when you apply your knowledge to topics that those who fund you find interesting :D

How true. My history lecturers were obsessed with retail history, even if nobody else was interested. I know someone from another course whose overriding interest was the cultivation of flax crops, and the environmental significance of this. She got funding for postgraduate studies and research from a potato farming marketing organisation. Guess what she specialised in after that?

I got home exhausted and tired and said, "OK, I'll take the rest of the day off." Then I realised it was already 15:00.

I felt the same in university. Then I got older and realized that feminist crap is generally right.

Well, it depends what @The Flash means. If it is about viewing every aspect of society, from car traffic to representation in parliament, through gender glasses, then I totally see where he's coming from. It's the same as with religiously devoted Communists who insist on looking at everything through their "class struggle" lenses, relevant or not.

And remember that under the feminist umbrella you find everything from those who see the upsides of gender equality and strive to find good solutions in order to achieve that, to those who think men are collectively responsible for everything wrong in the world.

There's a lot of relevance to feminist theory, when it comes to things like gender relations, just like there is lots of relevance to class struggle, when it comes to social mobility and stuff like that. I guess you are right, though - examples are needed.

I didn't say I disagree with them. I said I'm exhausted of it. I'd be exhausted if I heard someone bashing religion non-stop despite being an atheist, or if I heard someone consistently talking about why racism is bad. Just asking for some variety in topics.

Hey, it's less than a year since I got my first smartphone at all. I'm not known for waving expensive technology about.
Im not one of those 'my dog is bigger than your dog' guys but I got my first smart phone 6 months ago cos my mate gave it to me for free. Last week I left it on a bus. Back to a £10 brick. I miss my smart phone. Abusing friends via WhatsApp etc is a great way to waste time at work.

It was pretty amazing when the iPhone first came out. Apple was a bit ahead of their time. Sadly, the spoon fed new features and upgrades with each new release and it didn't take long for the Galaxy to pass them up.
