I don't know what that means, so I hope you don't mind me calling you a cheeky rascal?TYFRMOIRYOT.
The boy has form. And isn't this the second time you've done something like this? I seem to remember you had a visit to a mosque a couple of years ago that you went to on the wrong day.
I did. That was purely my mistake. And isn't this the second time you've done something like this? I seem to remember you had a visit to a mosque a couple of years ago that you went to on the wrong day.
Means "Thank you for respecting my opinion, I respect your opinion too"I don't know what that means, so I hope you don't mind me calling you a cheeky rascal?
This. He's very influential in the pop/hip hop world.I don't listen to Kanye but his music is quite respected.
A few years ago someone in my class at uni went to the dentist a month too early.
And isn't this the second time you've done something like this? I seem to remember you had a visit to a mosque a couple of years ago that you went to on the wrong day.
Explain something to me:
Everybody seems to agree that Kanye West is a douche, a guy without talent or artistic significance.
Why does everybody talk about him then? Why is he a topic?
Actually the consensus on him is that he's talented. You might've gotten the wrong impression by people who don't like hiphop in the first place.
I had a HUGE discussion with some family-in-law who live in New York, and who are HUGE fans of the man. They called me racist when I explained my personal reasons why I did not like him. Great. It has nothing to do with racism. The level of defending that man, it was shocking to me, and to my wife. Her own cousin said some really dumb and offending things. What I learned is that he means a lot to his fans. He represents a huge group of black street culture or however they call it. I don't get that aspect as well. He's rich, he doesn't work that hard. Easy living. He has a big mouth and indeed is a huge douchebag. Some people don't mind that, or even love it.
I don't know. My impression stems from user comments all over the net. Now of course, I know better than to listen to what trolls say, but it did kind of strike me to see that I never saw anyone coming out in his defence.
I don't hear that talent. Not in his singing at least. It's terribly off key. He blatantly uses autotune. Is that accepted? Fine, but I don't hear his talent.
I have heard several songs. Some took incredible patience, it was dreadfully bad. Others I could tolerate more, but I saw nothing significant or talented in it. There is a lot of music I dislike and I can still appreciate its significance or talent. Haven't found that yet in West's music.
You'll find the number of defenders are overwhelmingly superior in passionate hiphop cycles and among hiphop critiques. Kanye's first couple of records were considered landmarks in the genre. Grammy's are far from the greatest validation of quality music but you have to admit that they're valuable in the pop scene. The guy has 21 Grammys, that speaks volumes about his impact. Three of his albums made the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. Not an artist that doesn't command respect by any means.
He's a rapper and producer. Not a singer.
Your bashing of the artist holds very little validity over a discussion of his talent and impact when you've openly made remarks of a personal disdain for hiphop before. To give an insight about your recent argument that suggested hiphop artists couldn't do things on their own and needed help (which is wrong anyway) Kanye is actually one of the few hiphop artists that always did things "on his own". He rose to prominence as a producer. Producer in hiphop meaning the "one who created the beat aka the instrumental track". To call him talentless? Phew.
As for my personal opinion of Kanye, I don't care for his lyricism but he had great instrumentals in his first couple of records. I like him better as a producer than an MC. I actually really like his first really polarizing album, 808s & Heartbreak, which was an electropop album and not a hiphop one. Featured some very good songwriting, which made the autotuned singing tolerable.
